You'll see when you play for yourself. I actually love Mass Effect but it's too short.

Mass Effect is fourty hours long  if you do all side quests along with the main mission. The next one will be longer.

Mass Effect was my favorite RPG of all time but DS just blows it out of the water. You have to play DS to feel the intensity.

You will play Demon's souls again and again just to master the various techniques that are required.

This is no pause-the-game-choose-favorite-spell type of action. There is no pause feature in the game PERIOD. Even consuming a health pack makes you take the health pack out of your pocket and proceed to eat it, which obviously leaves you wide open to attacks.

Even the magic throws require you to actually AIM. The melee is incredibly detailed and requires a lot of skill to master.

At the same time, its RPG elements are incredibly detailed. In the end no matter how skilled of a player you are, it is impossible to win against a higher level player.

The most wonderful thing is that the difficulty, though incredibly steep, always poses a challenge and never a frustration.

This is an action RPG in its truest sense.

Dear lord, I would HATE this game so much lol!

Lucky for you you live in the UK.

As for mass Effect I beat the main quest in under 10 hours. And the side missions feel tacked on and cheap. Like I said great game but too short.

That's seriously not long enough... I would hope that the main story alone would do that.

My friend told me that he finished Mass Effect on his first play through "taking his time" in less tha 15 hours... I thought that was lame for an RPG....

The J man would rather play a phenomenal rpg that is 30 hours , than a crappy 100 hour rpg.

No matter how long the game lasts is not indicative of the games quality because  those 30 hours the J man spent on Mass Effect was the greatest experience the J man has ever had this gen.

(And by the way your friend is BS, it is impossible to finish the whole game in 15 hours.......not even the main quest is that short)

Lol Seriously.

Heck I wouldn't know. Never bothered too play the game. I was looking for RPG's, it looked like a 3rd person shooter to me for the most part. Also the problem with your post is that it assumes Demon's Souls is crappy. Both you and I haven't played it but for now I just can't believe that's the case when I listen to user feedback and reviews.

It didn't look like it was an RPG to you? Of course it is an RPG. It was 2007's RPG of the year for crying out loud.

Awards don't really mean anything to me... Never heard about Disgaea3 getting any awards but I love it more than most of the games I've played on PS3... and I've played quite a few games that got high praise from Critics and reviewers.

Dragon Age Origins has a different story arch for every class. That equals hours of gameplay in one already abundant game. 90% of the campaign takes 120 hours. The game has more voice work than any video game i've ever seen.

I will try that game, but truthfully its all just subjective. I am just reall good at calling GOTY candidates and Demon Souls will probably be the PS3's RPG of the year, but in no way RPG of the year as a whole. On average Dragon Age Origins will have higher scores than Demon Souls as well.

Demon's Souls is better then Oblivion and Fallout 3 and Pretty much every RPG this gen.

I'm glad your opinion is backed up by examples. It makes it that much more believable.

The difference between my opinion and a guy like STAGE's opinion is that I have actually played (and own) all these games.

Which makes my opinion an informed opinion and much more valuable, in my opinion.

Besides it's not like I'm comparing Demon's Souls to games that arent even out yet.
