I hate to go VERY off topic, but Natal is stolen from Ninty and Sony as much as the wand is a rip off of the wiimote.

Sony had eyetoy and PSeye, Ninty researched the 3d motion tracking that natal will have, but abandoned it in favour of the wiimote for several reasons

But yes, I am quite excited by natal, although at E3 I was always more excited by the idea that Milo might eventually be turned into a product

Those reactions were outdated one day after the announcement of Natal...Why bring it back up?

Oh yeah, I was meant to go further with my post before clicking the button to post it. I mean, obviously Sony and Ninty were developing camera based ways to interact with games before MS was, just as Ninty was experimenting with gyroscopes and accelerometers before Sony did for the wand. But what I meant to add, and forgot, was that Nintendo was not the first to do any of these. Ninty took a good idea with motion control, made some incremental improvements and then managed to bring the software and advertising to make it big. If MS brings enough software to Natal (they're already doing well advertising it) then it won't matter that Ninty and Sony were there before them, because MS will have popularised it, and that's really all that matters.

iHugi - Milo may end up being a game, it may not. Here's hoping :)

If you didn't know Motion control (in MS Sidewinder PC controllers) and video tracking were around before Nintendo and Sony used them. Arguement makes no sense at all

Natal likely won't do anything in Japan. Worldwide, it might give it a boost, but I really doubt it will make any significant changes in sales. Should be an interesting add-on though. Sadly, it's being overhyped by 360 fans and is bound to disappoint many. Just wait until the thing is at least somewhat close to coming out.

soo true.

OT - i'm not very excited about what has been show but i am still excited about what might be shown.  as many reservations as i have about the tech i'm still open minded to being blow away by something.

Why did you even bother mentioning the ps3 in your post. The really s no need for it. This thread is supposed to be about what people think of natal not what sony should or shouldnt do and big IF scenarios that you are cooking up.

Well dont to the nitty gritty. If natal is what they shown with that milo boy whatever it was and it is what they ar promissing then Yh i will be glad to have it next to my 360.

But if its just a psp eye like what i think it will turn out to be then i really couldnt care less because i already have one

Nobody's perfect. I aint nobody!!!

Killzone 2. its not a fps. it a FIRST PERSON WAR SIMULATOR!!!! ..The true PLAYSTATION 3 launch date and market dominations is SEP 1st

You have a PSP Eye? I thought they were just a myth!

On these boards there are 5 Natal sucks threads for every 1 Natal is cool... personally I'm just not sure how that can be considered over-hyping.

In fact, your estimation that it will have no effect in Japan, and very little effect everywhere else, seems MUCH more in tune with the sentiment of the majority of folks on VGChartz.  I mean honestly, HOW many people are there here REALLY over-hyping this?

On topic, I'm excited to hear what GAMES they announce for Natal.  I think the evolution of the controller (as brought to the mainstream by the success of Wii) is important to the development life-cycle of videogames going forward.  IF (a big IF), Natal is a possible future of that evolution, yeah, then yes it would be cool to "be on the ground floor" so to speak.

I don't expect it to magically generate sales though.  If the games are good and it offers new (and fun) experiences, you should HOPE it succeeds.  IF it doesn't, then we should hope it fails.

I know I am, as a gamer and supporter of the Xbox 360, in addition to the new experiences from various game developers, I am excited to see what Project Natal will do for Xbox 360 sales all around the world especially in Japan where they have the most ground to make up.

I am still excited despite the hate Sony fanboys show, just because it wasn't Sony that came up with the idea, LOL. I am sure if Sony and Microsoft switched presentations, Sony fanboys would be saying how great Sony is for coming up with the idea of controller-free gaming and how Microsoft's motion controller is just a rip-off of Nintendo's wii-mote.

Here is the E3 2009: Project Natal anouncement video to keep the hype-train going until the release next year my fellow Xbox supporters, enjoy and discuss.

Ahh, but Sony did in fact come out with it first. It was called the Eye Toy and had a host of games that demostrated the same features Natal does. They also have the PSEYE now for the PS3. What Sony didnt do was advertise enough. That said, as someone who has played quite a few of these "motion" based games, what it was lacking was a good controller. There are just some things that need buttons. That is why Sony has been developing there "wand" since the PS2.  That coupled with the camera is win.

It was announced way too early. They've had a couple months to keep me interested, and they haven't. I really don't care anymore. And it still has an entire year to try to build up hype before it comes out. It will be a huge disappointment due to the hype and the wait, and the lack of interesting software.

Not to mention just about everything in that video was either fake OR really stupid OR it's been done before on the EyeToy. It will be a great input interface for something, but I'm not sure if that's games. Definitely not racing games. And definitely not that Ricochet game (I already have it on the NES, thank you very much).
