everyone i know that has a psp has snes emulators on it. i was actually going to get a psp for that purpose alone.

there is this store nearby here in toronto its not very big but they mod your psp so it can play all the games from nintendo

Emulators seem like a terrible excuse for why piracy is more prevalent on the PSP since emulators exist for the DS as well.

You don't need to hack a DS to do that.  If you just want to emulate backups of NES games you already own, then it would be perfectly legal, not a hack or a mod in any way, and not even void your DS warranty.  You just buy this little thingie and put it in the DS, and put a microSD card in that thingie, and you put NES games on the microSD card.  It's all legal until you steal a game you don't have. 

For such a well known fact, I'm surprised that this is the first time I've ever heard it in my life.  In fact, it was so stupid it made me cry blood.

NES and SNES games age like fine wine, while PS1 games age like pixelated blocky chunky horrible 3-D turds.
