Forums - Sales - Top 50 Seventh Gen Games (all platforms)

I will update when there is significant movement/new games to add.

There will be a lot going on over the holidays with Wii Sports Resort, Wii Fit Plus, NSMBWii, Mario & Sonic 2, Modern War 2, ODST and FIFA 10 all possibly reaching 5 million. So I will update some.

FF13 WILL make the top 50.....how dare you Rol

are you that bitter about Dexters Lab trumping Kim Possible in TV Rating week after week back in the day??? LOL

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

Something impresses me in that Top 50: not only are all the games in the Top 10 1st party Nintendo games... but when you look at all these titles, ONLY 9 are not at all related to a Nintendo console...

Grand Theft Auto IV - Call of Duty 4 (so far, a Wii port is comin') - Halo 3 - Assassin's Creed - Gears of War - GTA Liberty City Stories - Gears of War 2 - Resident Evil 5 - Metal Gear Solid 4

All these games may considered big blockbusters (and also, sequels of some of the most famous franchises in gaming today)... and they had to be, because they're also some of the most expensive games ever made...

But the fact there's only 9 "anti-Nintendo" exclusives in that list may give a good indication about which consoles may be considered as "niche" this gen...

The irony is: many gamers criticize Wii for its lack of power...

But imagine if Wii was powerful enough for GTA4, RE5, CoD4, Assassin's Creed, and most of the other 3rd parties best efforts: what would have been left for the 2 other consoles? A few 1st party games only... Halo and Gears of War on one side, Uncharted and Little Big Planet on the other side...

Enough to justify the purchase of PS3 and X360? Just think about it... the competition would have been CRUSHED... because Nintendo could then have pleased ALL the types of gamers out there... just think about it...

and an ugly drawing in 1080p will stay ugly forever..."

I actually never expected Link's Crossbow training to sell 4 million copies, wow.

HeartGold and Soulsilver will definitely make the top 15. Probably top 10. GT5 is almost guaranteed a spot in the top 20 LTD and despite pessimistic predictions I wouldn't be surprised to see FFXIII in the top 20. Uncharted 2 might have a shot at the top 50, but It's not going to be easy. Fifa 10 is probably going to end up a few spots higher than Fifa 09. Not sure if it will break the top 20 though.

Proudest Platinums:
1. Gran Turismo 5
2. Persona 4 Arena
3. Wipeout HD
4. Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2
5. Super Street Fighter 4

Oh hey. I got a sticky.

So still nothing very interesting this week. Wii Sports Resort remains the only big mover, up now to #40, and only .35 out of #35.

Call of Duty 4 has moved into a tie with GTAIV at number 11. That should be resolved in CoD4's favor soon enough, as the game seems to be getting more of a boost from the 360/PS3 price cuts and general fall sales pickup. Madden 09 also had a little .01 tickover that tied it with Gears of War at 31.

Halo 3 ODST had an almost 80% drop in its second week, to 2.66m total. So that game is suddenly not a sure thing to make the list. There's about 5 other holiday games that could cruise past it before it catches up with MGS4.

After checking, it looks like there will be a new entry in the top 50 just as soon as the new 360 bundle starts showing up in the data. LEGO Batman is just under 4 million sold.

Pure has not sold 1 million on either 360 or PS3, so it will take a little longer to reach the rising threshold of the top 50.

Just for the record. Halo 3 had the same drop.

Woot, MGS4 made the top 50.

Also, Nintendo domination.
