I'd dispute this statement. The HD consoles have way better racing, action/adventure and sports games. I'll give Wii platformers and puzzle/strategy games. And oh yeah wii wins in party games by 1,000x.

well can I say something, shockingly I actually agree with him right now but change 2007 to 2008 & SSBB's release date & he's more accurate but imo a proffessional videogame journalist shouldn't write such things.....yeah its on his blog, but does it give a good reputation to IGN? |
should such laws apply only to the Wii, because Time magazine wrote that the PS3 was a dead in 2007, and Sony should have killed it.

anyways I guess you have a point.....but in the eyes of the random internet person IGN's reputation will go down..

...Anywho you certainty can't fault the man for his steadfast opinion, but he does sound like a bitter core gamer though, lol.
The Interweb is about overreaction, this is what makes it great!
...Imagine how boring the interweb would be if everyone thought logically?

I dunno, Matt Cassamassina, whether you love him or hate him, seems pretty professional. |
I'm not sure I buy that.
At all.
In fact, while I like the guy more than most, I'm willing to say that he's about as unprofessional as the rest, if not a tad more. Start with the fact that he never voluntarily disclosed that he married a Nintendo employee, add in the open calls for developers to make certain types of games, toss in the shameless plugs for "mature" titles, and then take it from there.

I think you have the same problem that this guy has that you limit by what genre you play. Little King Story is one of the hardest games this gen and is harder than PS3/360 games just try to name one game that came out on the HD systems that even equals in the last two years.I know for fact the editor for nintendo ign editor likes only shooters and action games which the wii is admittely lacking. But the wii leads in most of the other genres which the guys doesn't not play. On will not touch on narrative experiences sine that is too opinated in my books. Because too me only japan games seem to have good stories or narratives with occasionaly western game that is not a shooter doing this also.

Demon's Souls is far and away more difficult than LKS. Not even comparable in my book.

I wouldn't give the wii platformers, it only has 1 good AAA platformer, and thats Mario galaxy, the rest are ok to mediocore (dont even bring up Paper mario "3") whilst the PS3 has several good platformers, from Little big planet, to Ratchet and clank, and Uncharted, and even Tomb raider..

Out of those, i'd only really consider LBP to be a true platformer.
I might as well add Metroid Prime trilogy to the platformer list with the other games you have mentioned there.
