Why do people always say that? Opinions OFF AND ONLINE are the same. They`re opinions... Infact if aything, opinions online do mean more because people are willing to be more honest and open about them online.

The only playable games on the wii have been casual games or casualized games; spin-offs from hardcore franchises that have sacrificed some of the high challenge levels for accessibility. There hasnt been any good hardcore game for the Wii that was incredibly challenging or provided a deep or meaningful narrative experience. Nintendo has been focusing on the fun factor alone and this is why the wii and its games are looked upon as nothing but toys, rather than a system for providing meaningful interactive experiences (as opposed to non interactive but artistically acclaimed `medium of films).`For those wanting nothing but mindless escapism that may be a good thing, but for those looking for meaningful experiences the wii is a bust. |
I think you have the same problem that this guy has that you limit by what genre you play. Little King Story is one of the hardest games this gen and is harder than PS3/360 games just try to name one game that came out on the HD systems that even equals in the last two years.I know for fact the editor for nintendo ign editor likes only shooters and action games which the wii is admittely lacking. But the wii leads in most of the other genres which the guys doesn't not play.
On will not touch on narrative experiences sine that is too opinated in my books. Because too me only japan games seem to have good stories or narratives with occasionaly western game that is not a shooter doing this also.
I love fighting games !!! Come on challenge me !

Unfortunatley I have the same problem as his excluding Brutal Legend. For me I'm getting NSMBWii, Rabbids go home, A Boy and His Blob, FFCB Wii, Sakura Wars: so long my love! and 3-4 games I didn't have money for during the spring-summer...
Former something....

The Gamecube's best first party games, Zelda, Metroid, Mario, Smash Bros., Mario Kart, Animal Crossing, etc. have all already seen Wii sequels. Now that the system also has Wii Sports/Fit/Play though somehow those games don't count. |
Zelda:TP is a gamecube game, so I'd hardly call that a Wii sequel. Unless you're counting Link's Crossbow Training, of course. Games like Starfox, Pikmin, F-Zero, Waverace and even Pilotwings (aka the most obvious use for WM+ ever) are no where to be seen yet and we're 3 years in. Maybe I'm wierd, but I wouldn't consider Wii Sports/Play to be in anywhere near the same league as Waverace, Pilotwings, Starfox, etc. The gamecube got a great zelda game a little over a year after the console launch, yet by time Zelda actually comes out for the Wii it'll have been 4 years since launch.
This, coupled with third parties seemingly just sitting on their hands producing safe bets, you can see the frustration. Of course there are exceptions, but come on. Where is the third party support consistant with being the dominant console? Where the heck is my motion enabled flying game? The ps2 got a respectable flying game within a couple months of the ps2's release. Surely some third party could have made one for the Wii after almost 3 years.
edit: I should mention Disaster: Day of Crisis is quite good and that's an example of something I'd like to see more of.
Demon's Souls Official Thread | Currently playing: Left 4 Dead 2, LittleBigPlanet 2, Magicka

Hmmm: FFCB is coming this year? you can add that to my list this holiday season.
"Sony and Microsoft know that their core audience will be there in five years. Nintendo just can't say the same thing. In this regard, the Wii is the anti-GameCube, the anti-N64, and the anti-hardcore gamer. "
Lol.

What he fails to realize and most of you agreeing is Nintendo sells both hardware and software. And Nintendo have done more with the Wii than the gamecube. The wii did not alienate their base, it added a new market to it. Its just that some people who think they are hardcore, feel nintendo gives more to the casual market. But look at the big core Wii games, they all outsold PS3 exclusives.
Nintendo's biggest problem for me this Gen is the fact unlike previous generation, they gave us a really weak system hardware wise.

For every genre Wii has the best library, except Shooters and RPGs.
That being said, there are also some sub-Genres (most notably: Football) where Wii is lacking.
However, for Action, Adventure, Platformer, Puzzle, Strategy, Sports, Racing Wii is the best for acceptable quality and variety.
You are welcome to disagree, but I think the sales prove the interest people have in Wii games.
I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.
