Wow I recall a lot of people predicting this selling only a little bit better than ES hell some were saying it would sell worse....Yeah I'm just going to say this. The game should have been a PS3 exclusive or Multiplat from Day 1. It would have sold much better. I also expect this to spike up into the top 10 during a week in Oct due to the ToV movie releasing that month.

Im also going to say that FFXIII will sell better on the PS3 in Europe and North America. Yeah I said it Quote Me On It Bitches!!!!

Unless the 360 version of FFXIII is vastly inferior to the PS3's, that isn't happening.

The NA is 360's region. Hell, I think the 360 may be able to take the west overall.

As for the topic, not much of a surprise. Userbase.

Userbase isn't everything. Batman on the PS3 sold better in NA, sure it had the free Joker stuff, but it still sold better.

There's a few reasons to purchase it on PS3 instead of 360:

1) Do you really think that it'll be a single disc?

2) Lead platform is the PS3, so it's not a stretch to assume more glitches will be present on the 360 version, as well as graphical inconsistencies.

3) Some people bought a PS3 just for FFXIII, well before the multiplatform announcement.

PS3/360 owners will, in all likelihood, choose the PS3 version without hesitation. You know it, I know it, everyone knows it. And for those who don't have either system, I think you'd agree that more would choose to buy a PS3 to play it on rather than a 360, because of the knowledge that PS3 is the lead platform. I won't say the differential will be like night and day, to be honest I think that FFXIII will only perform better on the PS3 by a small margin, but I honestly doubt the 360 is going to get the majority of the sales just because it owns North America.

It had the best day one numbers of any Tales game.  Not bad for a year old port.

According to estimated totals coming out of Japan, the game has sold an outstanding 147,000 copies in Japan on its first day. Here are what previous Tales of games have sold in their first day:

Tales of Innocence - 76,000
Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World – 120,000
Tales of Vesperia X360 – 71,000
Tales of Hearts – 121,000
Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology 2 – 135,000
Tales of VS. – 89,000

Thanks for the input, Jeff.

Not surprised at all. This is how it goes:

-PS3 owners heard good things about the 360 version;
-They were anticipating the game for their console, they finally get it;
-They read about new additional stuff added in the game;
-Maybe there are twin HD console owners in Japan and saw that it was worth getting.

Tales of is a well established franchise. Eternal Sonata and WKC... Not really eh?

Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

And then you have to take Genre into the mix as well. While it hasn't really been proven yet in NA but the 360 userbase has been very receptive of it's JRPG library. A lot of PS3 owners were people who said "Im Buying This For FFXIII" Among all of my 360 friends none of them mention FFXIII they are all talking about Mass Effect 2 or Conviction. While all of my PS3/Wii friends are talking about FFXIII. Even though I may be seriously wrong I think the gamers who care more about Japanese oriented games are among the Wii/PS3 userbase. And that will play a big role of who comes out on top come spring. And isnt Mass Effect releasing around the same time as XIII? 360 Fans are going to be busy with that one Fa Shizzle My Nizzle

Yet WKC outsold every JRPG on The 360 (In Japan)

Whats also patently obvious is that the japanese gamer and japanese rpg is becoming increasingly out of sync with the rest of the world. Only FFXIII can save them now in the west.

they don't care being out of sync with the rest of the world, just like they don't care about iphone and FPS games.

the world doesn't always have to follow the trends in America.

Oh I was assuming you were knocking WKC because Tales almost out sold it. My bad

+1 if everyone was a follower then the world would be without choices.  They are not the ones out of sync, it is the rest of the world (gaming wise) that are trying to "emulate" their greatest gift to gaming the RPG.  Those WRPG everyone praises only came about because of the ingenuity of the Great gaming masters of the far East.
