The mighty one has finally fallen. It also had to face the inevitable, the extreme growth of VGChartz in the past years. And sure, while GAF´s users are probably more active (and therefore more nerd), this is only the beginning. The elitist method of joining on GAF is also a cause why they don´t have more members. Nevertheless this is an accomplishment that has to be celebrated.
The importantness of GAF is fading quickly month by month. Alexa.com shows a 22% growth in 3 months for the daily visitors on this VGChartz, while GAF only has a small growth of 2%. In rank GAF is still placed higher, but this will not last forever either.
I made this thread also due to the discussion ioi had on GAF today with an account he got from a fellow member on VGChartz. All the insults there are just jealousy at its best. They all hate themselves for not being smart enough (stupid actually) to develop a site like ioi has done.
The past 3 years (for me 2.5) I´ve seen this site grew from a silly site that was probably made within a few days (with a lot of sales errors) to a site that is accepted by a lot of media, consumers, and a lot of gamers. The site might still not be perfect on the sales department, but it´s good enough for me (and I believe for a lot of people). I also think things will only get better and better, up to a point where VGChartz will be the standard for people to get their sales data from.
To ioi and ofcourse also the rest of the management I say, good job. Let's hear it for them people! =)
