when a game like Mass Effect 2 makes 900K in its first week (MS backing it up with major marketing push, larger install base, hype, etc, plus it's a sequel, rave reviews etc etc) , 300K WW first week for a game like Heavy Rain can't be just "decent". If it makes 300K WW first week it'll be a HUGE thing. That's around what a FPS like MAG did (being new franchise, online only and etc), no other console games have had such a good opening week THIS YEAR, not Darksiders and definitely not Bayonetta.

This game cost more to make than MAG. Under 300k first week will be disappointing for the game, as it's going to need huge sales to have a chance at breaking even. Well over 1 million lifetime.

what if it costs more to make than MAG? I don't see your point. Does it mean HR can't make 2 million LTD if it sells "ONLY" 300K in the first week? you mean to tell me HR has to sell 1 million WW in its first MONTH to be a success or something? for comparison, Uncharted 2 did around 1.3 million WW in its first 4 weeks. HR may be able to do that half of that in its first month WW, hopefully and it could have good legs. Don't throw all the weight on the first week for such a game, not matter the cost. Come down to Earth my friend.

Beat the game with the perfect ending. Took about 10 hours, not counting chapters I replayed to change things. I'll be playing some more tomorrow to get a handle on the different possibilities of your choices (though I already experienced a lot tonight). I can probably get the review up tomorrow. Wasn't expecting to finish the game tonight, but it was hard to put down.

:P

Work is a desk job, I get sometime to sneak in a post here or there.

i'd have a long answer to that post about how people neglect their work and using their companys internet to post in forums and what's wrong with their morals... but i hear my boss coming!

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

The Greek Playstation Magazine gave the game 9 out of 10.They've only given 10 to seven games so far -Uncharted 2,MW2,Oblivion,MGS4,Little Big Planet,Fifa10 and GTAIV(typical), and I certainly don't agree with some of their ratings, but 9 is nonetheless a high score, especially for a controversial game like heavy rain. I only know one thing: When the demo was over ,I wanted MORE :)

Interview with David Cage talking about his next game. Kinda relevant to the thread, and links to a full interview where he talks about Heavy Rain.

Is Heavy Rain a movie, or a game? Developers Quantic Dream have presented us with quite a quandary.
Ups:
Fantastic story, and a successful achievement as an interactive movie. Graphics are very impressive in certain scenes. Emotionally engaging. Some of the tenses moments I have experienced in a game. Replay value if you want to see all the different outcomes for things. Character's emotional facial expressions make for some very impressive "acting". A nice set of extras including images and making-of videos.
Downs:
Some very bad voice acting. Realistic graphics can make some characters look strange. Sound, camera and graphical bugs. The story has a few major plot-holes. The early levels are a bit too slow, which may stop some players from getting into the game.

8.5 / 10
"A clever twist on gaming."
