Forums - Sony - Lair delayed in Europe (again)

Hey, I can only see this as a good thing.

Lair had hundreds of small problems. I didn't think the controls were really one of them. If they... fixed a lot of these problems, the base game is very fun. That would mean Europe wouldn't get to Beta test a broken game, but get to play the fun one!

Or it's a delay for Holidays. I hope it's the former. Then I'd say, import!

Isn't the 16th the same day Mario Galaxy is released?

Well that's pretty much a death-sentence for Lair.

Yes, it now has the same release date as SMG in Europe...

I say they will give the option for both sixaxis and analog sticks. Although I don't mind the sixaxis - I find in Warhawk I prefer the good o'l analog sticks, I think it makes flying games more realistic than the motion i.e. as you use sticks to fly anyway :P Sixaxis should only enhance the game, not be the main drive imo.

Why would a Wii game affect a PS3 game? The Wii audeince most likely does not own a PS3 ......

believe it or not mario isnt as popular in Europe as he is in America, maybe they are trying to steal some of the SMG hype, although this is a terrible idea because SMG will outsell Lair 10-1.

The game got much better scores in Japan (Famitsu) than I thought it was going to - maybe they are improving the game. Fixing the controls can't be THAT hard, and would significantly improve the game.

Maybe the same is happening for Europe - or maybe its just multi-lingual work (translation and such).

Maybe they are making the game good.

Good for EU gamers ...

Go little dragon! Flap your wings! You can make it!

Anyway, the controls could be changed a little bit. Mainly motion tweaks because sometimes you would either do a 180 (rare) or do a speed boost (more common) when you moved the controller a little bit and didn't mean to do anything. On that note, I'm going to go out on a limb to guess that if you didn't bitch about the controls every waking moment, you can get used to them fairly quick. Now that's an assumption of course because I was expecting worse controls than what reviewers and other users were complaining about, but ended up being just fine by the end of the first level.

A lot of control problems have had to do with timing, or at least that's what I've found. For example, if you want to do a 180 turn, the best way to do it is to level the controller and don't make any sudden movements for a second or two and then flick it up to do the turn. I found that doing that worked MUCH better than trying to do it while you're in the middle of a turn or you're doing other stuff at the same time. Mainly, you just have to get the feel for how the dragon turns and such and you'd be fine.
