PS3 - Vesperia - ???k

Conclussions:

- Vesperia on the Xbox 360 is the worst selling entry overall

- They sell better on Sony platforms, even when the Sony platform in not the current-lead

- Constantly switching the platforms, has probably hurt the sales since not every "Tales of" fan can have all the game consoles.

- Either Vesperia PS3 or Graces Wii potential sales could be damaged if the Tales of fanbase decides to move massively to one of the game consoles.

- Rebirth and Abyss sold about the same. The Rebirth team is currently making Graces, and Abyss was done by the same team of Symphonia/ Vesperia

Tales of Vesperia PS3 will do around 250,000 first week in Japan, according to TheSource. Depending on the drop off, that puts it at about 350-400K lifetime.

Imho ToV ps3 will strugle to get more than 300k sales lifetime and Graces won't be able to outsell ToV ps3+ToV x360 (so around 400k).

There are actualy 2 Tales of Fandom games.

Tales of Fandom Vol. 1 and Tales of Fandom Vol. 2

And Legendia is not a spin-off. It was developed by a different studio and its a little different but its still considered a main title (7th mothership title)

Interesting, though I already knew most of this. Hopefully Graces will do pretty well, and Vesperia for PS3 as well. Vesperia is a fantastic game, and seeing more sales for it will make me very happy.

You make a good point about splitting the fanbase. I think Tales of Vesperia will do very well on PS3, and hurt Tales of Graces sales significantly.

Vesperia: 350k
Graces: 300k

Saturation could be of course another reason, and in the end games like Tempest and Legendia just hurt the name of the series.

Anyway, where will most of the Tales of games go in the future? Two years ago they said the DS would be there new platform for Tales of games, but the sales of those one's have been disappointing after all.

Once again, I think it will depend on the sales of Vesperia PS3 and Graces, and I personally hope the PS3. Not because I necessarily want play them on the PS3, but because I live in Europe and the PS3 is the only region free home console.

If they release Graces early 2010 in Japan, Summer 2010 in US, I'll probably have to wait till Winter 2011!

Oh yea, some of the numbers are a little off.
Tales of Destiny 2 977k
Tales of Rebirth 605k
Tales of the Tempest 301k

And I can't say about the other titles because they were also released in the west and the numbers are only for WW.
