I think we'll know more of this by October especially when big 3rd party titles start coming out. It's clear that PS3 has a good start and is going to give Wii and 360 some good competition but I'd still say the holiday season is in favor of 360 and Wii right now. But that could obviously change.

But GT5 has been confirmed for 4th Dec

& FF13 has been confirmed for 17th Dec

Really?  Can you show me a link to GT5.  I had not heard.  And yes FF13 but for Japan only.

Well I don't discuss this in fanboy terms which is why I don't hope for anything.  I'm simply looking at all the facts and giving my best judgment.  I never said PS3 wasn't goign to have a good holiday season, I just need more time and data to see how this will carry over the next few week and judge the holidays.

The ps3 has dropped the only thing holding it back (price), if you think 360 and wii will do better during the holiday you are sadly mistaken.

Several quotes from Yamauchi (GT creator)....like "GT5 will be out shortly after GT:PSP"....."Its ready to ship in its state"......"ITs closer than you think"

A Handout given at GC2009 said "GT5 = Q4 2009"

basically saying GT5 isn't coming out in 09 is like denying the slim rumors.....SONY will confirm it at TGS

I think if next year MS drops the price of the arcade from 199 to 149, it will be really hard to beat that even if Sony dropped the same amount :S. because is not the same 249 than 149. that would be how MS could make things go back to normal. as they were a few months ago.

If you wish to argue with me based on nothing then you are sadly mistaken.  Either rebutt what I say or don't waste my time. 

People I'm not here to argue what you think the outcome should be.  I'm here to take the thread seriously.  Given all we know about PS3 and 360 going into this holiday season we are trying to figure out who has more bang for their buck.  I'm thinking still right now 360 may have an edge but I'm not saying they have a dominant edge or the edge that is guaranteed to stay 3 weeks from now.  Don't sit here and argue your personal logisitics with me.

Even if that has a 99% likelihood of being true, it isn't a confirmation. 

 

Now I will play along and state that if GT5 were able to release this year, that would give PS3 its big holiday exclusive it has been lacking in Europe and America.  But once again we don't have a solid confirmation yet.  I do think PS3 would have a bigger holiday if that does fall through.  That is definitely something that would give PS3 and edge over 360 as it is questionable that Forza 3 would be able to compete.
