Well as quick as that may be, remember what happened in the holiday season last year. PS3 had essentially outsold the 360 all year then the pricecut and the holiday season destroyed that.

With 360 still at better mass market price than PS3, Elite now at $300, ODST, etc. this could potentially stop that when that part of the year comes. Even further with the vastness of the opening start for PS3, one could also argue that the majority have already gotten their PS3 now and that it'll die down even further.

Also trends show that consoles that get big boosts in sales BEFORE the holiday season, don't sell as well in the holiday season. This is actually reminiscent of PS3 going into holiday season 2007 in Japan. 40GB boosted sales early in November and it then went into a holiday season with subpar increases.

I'm not trying to put a damper on any of this, but there are numerous other factors that need to be taken into consideration. Although PS3 may overtake it for a short time, there are a lot of factors also going against PS3. Whether or not the mainstream will still want to pay $100 or $50 more for a PS3, whether or not Uncharted is enough to compete with ODST and New Super Mario Bros. Wii, and whether or not the Slim is going to be all early sales and not much legs.

I think we'll know more of this by October especially when big 3rd party titles start coming out. It's clear that PS3 has a good start and is going to give Wii and 360 some good competition but I'd still say the holiday season is in favor of 360 and Wii right now. But that could obviously change.

this holiday is for PS3 and if u hope 360 to beat PS3 this holidays just wait to the releases of FF13 and GT5 and u'll be surprised :D

Well I don't discuss this in fanboy terms which is why I don't hope for anything.  I'm simply looking at all the facts and giving my best judgment.  I never said PS3 wasn't goign to have a good holiday season, I just need more time and data to see how this will carry over the next few week and judge the holidays.
