Forums - Sony - Ken Kutaragi has his REVENGE! (Boo SONY for firing him)!!

is this a joke thread?
cause ken left on his own, he retired long before the PS3 cameout.

He was "promoted" to an irrelevant position first. A roundabout way to fire people that's arisen in Japanese corporate culture.

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

Yeah Japanese custom is basically you don't outright "fire" someone ... you basically demote them to an embarrassing position and then the person "resigns" ... that's how it goes in Japan. You are basically forced out.

How can we say he was fired for forced out???

Well, this is a Sony specific thread, so i will have to decline to comment on this one.

Now if it was in a gaming thread thats an entirely different matter

Or there was another way to think of it.

Ken Kutaragi completely screwed them over and it took over 3 years to finally redesign the PS3 so that it's attractive to the consumer.

Declining to comment with a comment doesn't work.

I decline to comment on the topic at hand, i stand corrected.

Come to think of it, I fail to see how Ken Kutaragi had anything to do with this. I doubt he stood up at a board meeting and said "Hey, let's make a Slim, cut the price by $100, and remove Linux support!". If he was still CEO, the Emotion Engine would be in every PS3, the PS3 would be floundering, at $400 or maybe even $500, and it would be awesome, but it would fail and drive Sony REALLY far into the red. It's for the best that Phil Harrison, and then Kaz Hirai, took over.

I think if ken was still there, the PS3 would still be $500.

Ken would of kept the PS2 B/c back in and everything else and there wouldnt be a PS3 slim.

I agree, putting the PS3 in last position compared to the mighy domination of the PS2 is quite an accomplishment! Kutaragi has his revenge!

But seriously arent you tired of making ton of threads on this topic?

No matter what happens now, there'll be dozens of identical threads popping up.

If PS3 Slim continues to sell extremely well, there'll be the 2009 is year of the PS3/FXIII GT5 Slim will destroy Wii in Japan/Sony takes 2nd place confirmed/10 year plan FTW threads.

If PS3 Slim doesn't generate long term momentum, then we'll get PS3 is doomed/Slim failed-time for another price cut/wait until 2010 games it'll be the year of the PS3 then/Sony shouldn't bother with PS4/10 year plan FTW threads.

If PS3 Slim does ok then we'll get It's doing fine, nobody panic/PS3 Slim failed because it didn't dominate/10 year plan FTW threads.

Just one little question... The petition is a joke, right?
