He deserved to be fired. The PS3 has a fraction of the userbase Sony has been used to and lost Sony a ton of money.

He was good in the 90s and early 2000s, but his time has passed.

They still don't like him, cuz now they're stuck with a product that continues to cost them.

Kutaragi is overrated. He got lucky with breaks from Nintendo (choosing cartridges with the N64) and Sega's overall incompetence and Microsoft being a rookie in the business. The PS2 had the benefit of a headstart and only really had to match up against the Dreamcast (easy pickings) early on. He had his time ... it's since passed. 

Once Nintendo and Microsoft got their act together (this generation) ... they were able to chew apart Sony quite easily.

Ken Kutaragi is to thank for the PS3's current sales? If Ken Kutaragi was still head of SCE, the PS3 would still have full PS2 backwards compatibility, 4 USB ports, card readers, OtherOS, and would probably just now be dropping to $399.99 with 1/2 the userbase the system currently enjoys and no third-party exclusive support.

Like it or not, the PS3's current sales are thanks to Kaz Hirai making the PS3 a competitive system, because it certainly wasn't when it was with Kutaragi.

Nothing says comeback like 1 week of stellar sales, against the backdrop of three years of lackluster sales. Yes, it's as if the previous weeks never took place ...

I think some people are too excited about a sales spike, pretty irrelevant in the long run.

Yeah, kutaragi is a dumbass. It is amazing how he lasted so long when screwed everything up so quickly and devastatingly.

And even though sales are freakin' amazing, it is only one week. Your enthusiasm may bite you in the ass in a month or two. or even sooner than that.
