Forums - Nintendo - Fire Emblem discussion thread revived

I'm still not sure what to make of class changing. The idea of complete class changing is just so foreign to Fire Emblem that I'm not sure what to do with it.

I've finished Path of Radiance and the DS remake. I find Radiant Dawn way more difficult and I'm still at Chapter 1-4.

Radiant Dawn is tough early on because it's basically like a puzzle. There are moves that will get you to victory and ones that will get to really bad positions. It begins to feel more like a traditional Fire Emblem game halfway through Part 1.

I actually think Radiant Dawn was the worse FE game in the states. It was just recycled characters, really long, and most of the new characters sucked. It was a real let down.

I liked Shadow Dragon. It felt like it was more fun being simpler.

You disliked Radiant Dawn for having many similar characters, yet you liked Shadow Dragon, which practically throws 5 units at you every map?

As for the length, I really loved that. Long games are great, and it managed to never become repetitive, as it changes the units and setting all the time. No two maps are the same.

Shadow Dragon is essentially the same all the time. If you can control many opponents in a large group, you can win rather easily. It's more of an Advance Wars than a Fire Emblem. If you preferred SD over RD, you really should try Advance Wars, Smash.

Yup, I also hate that the game practically forces you to use Soth all the time, because every other character simply sucks. I really try killing some bosses with someone other than him, and I end up playing the level all over from the start.

Other than that though, I love the music score, the FMVs and the new animations give the game a lively charm absent from Path of Radiance.

It doesn't do that at all.

Sothe is Tier 2, it means that he is really level 21, not level 1. You need to use the other characters, or you'll be screwed later. It's part of the "Fire Emblem strategy".

Actually it doesn't.  Take Sothe's weapons away and enemies will attack him instead of your weaker characters.  Since he dodges like a fiend, he can tank while your other characters kill and gain EXP.

I find the battle themes, in particular, hard to argue with.

Radiant Dawn's (and Path of Radiance as well) biggest problem was that their themes are far too busy.  I prefer the melody-centric older Fire Emblem music to Radiant Dawn's more frantic music.

must...resist...temptation... that remembers me... i desperatly want to play FE blazing sword a LOT. The problem is that i completed it 100% (even merlinus supports) and go back there without finishing the others is weird.

I stopped playing FE radiant dawn when i got stuck on chapter 4-final hard mode, and that was a long time ago ;-(...

still this is my fav song:

Even on normal difficulty it isn't the case that the other characters suck and are too weak to kill the bosses. Heck, that's not even the case on hard. I wonder what you are doing, after all we are just talking about the first few chapters here which all have rather weak bosses.

Also, if you want to take the cheap route, use the save function anytime during a chapter. You can reload as often as you want. (This feature is disabled on hard.)

I'd guess he doesn't realise that Thani can kill the bosses in 1-4 (or is it 1-3?) in one hit. That boss is close to impossible to kill with anyone save Sothe and Micaiah.

Tips: Use Nolan (Axe user) against lancers, and Edward (Swordsman) against Axeusers and Swordusers. It will make the game a lot easier for you, over time.

Also, play overly defensive. Pull one enemy at a time, don't rush into multiple.

This should be rather obvious, but it took me a bit of learning originally, and some basics tips may also be goo (although, reading WoW's tip, that's better than both of mine).
