Power consumption is "marginal"? Which other models have comparable power consumption compared to the slim?

Glad you asked, before you flamed.

New 80gb phat model: 280w

Slim: 250w

You see, Sony and their fanboys use launch models for their comparisons to pitch you on buying a slim. They conviniently forget, in their speed tests, that Sony released a new model of phat last year that was much, much better than launch models.

yeah ZenfolderVGI I am not a ravenous, flaming fanboy like most on this site; I post every once in awhile because of how biased this site has shown it can be.  I thank you for this info (I guess I see now why you called it marginal).  This bit of info I did not know about, this model probably was the more profitable since it basically had roughly the same power reduction of the slim.

hmm both uses less than that, thats probably the power source.

That's rating, and max load, not average use, but it's what you base true comparisons on, because it's maximum potential.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

huh? the fat ps3 doesn't even use anywhere near 200w not to talk of 250w. that's jsut the power supply rating. the ps3 slim should be operating at around under 100w.

Are you sure they're not keeping it next to a radiator or something?

bullshit again ...?

Time to Work !

My friend's the opposite.. He's more noisier than the PS3... I mean damn.. He was so chirpy when he got one to the point that it's not realistic...

I remember a comparison where the Slim hardly ever went over the 90's.

yes many reviews pointed out slim uses on average around 65watts-90watts.

My 40gb from November 2007 runs a bit hot while gaming, but I'll be damned if I don't have to make a serious effort to hear it.
