I wanted PS2 at first place, but since I didn't live through most of the other consoles, and since I've never remember playing an Atari console, I'm not complaining.

It may have popularixed the idea but it failed horible and has such a dated catolog

PS2 or SNES should have taken the top spot

Yes the Atari started the game industry in a time when competition was weak and games were new and exiting.

Won't people be saying the same thing about the ps3 & 360 in years to come?

Or any console for that matter.

Im guessing they did it so that they dont lose there user base.. if they put the 360 at #1 the ps3 audience would go mad, and vice versa..

fucken bullshit, Sega mega drive should of been number 1...but that's just me....the nes or snes were non existent back in the day for me, didn't even know they existed...hell I was still gaming on it even when the PS1, N64, and Sega saturn launched, completely missed the PS1 generation cuz the next console to enter my house was the sega Dream cast.

I remember my parents getting me and my siblings the Sega mega drive in 1991...stopped playing my sega mega drive when we got the dream cast in late 2000...almost 9 years gaming on it...and the say 10 year life cycles are none existant, blah, I beg to differ based on my own experiences.

Sega fanboy, converted to a Sony fanboy....and if Sega were to get back into the console business and launch DreamCast 2, then I'd buy it in a heart beat and share my Love for the 2....Nintendo has never had any significance to me and my life when it comes to home consoles, which is why I don't care for their mascots and franchises.

A console should have been number 1, since it was the only one you played (or knew existed)?

This is probably why the list is (or should be) done by people who've played most of the consoles when they were out.
