Forums - Nintendo - Another Wii core game test (Dead Space Extraction)

"I'm guessing most of those ppl complaining never even play rail shooters."

Actually I don't either, but I'm not going to arrogantly assume gamers are just going to reject it on those grounds when it's clear they sell.

@Kasz216, isn't a game that sold 700,000 on the PS3, given development costs, a financial failure? If so, the on-rails "test" of Time Crisis 4 on PS3 actually did not succeed...

Time Crisis 4 is an arcade game.

So it was just a port.

700,000 for a port should of made a nice profit.

What a bunch of BS. I'm frankly sick of being treated like a damn guinea pig. These developers are here to serve US, NOT the other way around.. That's the beauty of the free market. How bout this EA, make a damn good game that people will LIKE and maybe people will buy it! Gee what a concept! It's almost like a *gasp* business! I was on the fence about this game, but now I will definitly not be buying it. EA should take some notes from Sega or Capcom if they want to figure out how to make a good core game that will sell.

The reason I am not buying DS:E or RE:DC is because they are on rails. I never got RE:UC because of this reason. I hate on rails games. I even hate them in the arcades.

I do have RE4 and thought it was good. Madworld and Conduit, while short, were good and I'm glad I bought them. To me, it's simple. Make a good game, not a half-hearted attempt at one, and it will probably do better.

Muramasa is up next! I cannot wait!

What if this sells better than the HD version? Perhaps not both combined, but at least the PS3 version? That would kind of make it hard to claim these games don't sell on the Wii when the HD versions are selling little or no better. Rail shooter or not.

In that case, EA loses their "See, these games don't sell on the Wii," parachute, and be forced to make more.

They'll base it on the userbase of the consoles and still declare it a losing game.

I think it's clear by now that Wii owners aren't looking for HD.  Just good games.  Dead Space with RE4 graphics and controls would have been awesome.  I'll still buy the game they are releasing because I know I'll enjoy it but I would just like to see more games like that available to me to play.

They can't. If you make money, you have to announce it. If not, the SCE and IRS will nail them. Userbase is just something made up to spin sales. You can't do that when announcing financial results.

No, because some still look at some screenshots, and declare "it looks like something from the N64" (it's clear they haven't looked at some N64 games in a while). That's Wii owners, not HD fanboys.

That is smart. Why make a game that does not sell. Just make games which sell. Here is a free tip:

I've got the N64 graphics stuck in my head now so it's easy to compare to other screen shots lately. LOL

I don't think its a test for whether or not they will make this type of game, I think its more a test for whether or not they make expensive Wii only type blockbuster games. Well thats my interpretation anyway.

Tease.

I mean those complaining about some objectively well detailed Wii games obviously didn't look at N46 games, or similar 6th gen games to compare (or they chose the wrong games to compare).
