I enjoyed Left 4 Dead a lot more than Uncharted. The numbers are pretty close considering the pc numbers are not included and Uncharted has been on sale longer. If L4D 2 was exclusive to the 360, then I can see it easily outselling Uncharted 2. Since it is also available on the pc I think the numbers will be pretty close.

As for GT5 outselling everything, I highly doubt that.

A boycott of 10,000 people will have little impact on sales, nevermind everyone is a bit naive if you don't think some of those people will buy the game anyway. Nevermind that I haven't seen where it's gotten bad press.

Well Uncharted 2 has had an extra year of sales and bundles. L4D2 pre orders are already higher than L4D's were at the same point in time.

Remember Uncharted released when the PS3's install base was about 7.5M.

I am going to say Uncharted 2. Reasons:

1/ It looks better than the first and has online multiplayer.
2/ much more hyped than the first.
3/ Left4Dead only released last year.
4/ I feel the hype is lower for L4D2 than the original.
5/ L4D will have stiff competition from Halo and (Infinity Ward) CoD.

Lifetime:

Uncharted 2 - 3.5M
Left 4 Dead 2 - 2M

I think U2 could end like resistance 2, selling less than the prequel. It's going to be close but without bundles I say Left 4 Dead 2. I'll be buyind both but Left 4 Dead for the PC.

Releasing on a smaller install base effects sales, especially sub 10M install bases.

The online multiplayer will turn all those rentals into sales. Plus, U2 is garenteed a meta score of 90+%.

It does have an effect though. I dont just mean on internet forums, I mean in stores as well (it will also have a bigger advertisement campaign).

well der... how many people pre order a new IP? You should also realise that the pre orders in NA (L4D's strongest market, Uncharted's second strongest) are higher for Uncharted 2 than for L4D.

yeah but this call of duty will be bigger, and Halo is bigger than Gears, which isn't an FPS...

I must admit, I did think Resistance 2 would have better sales than it did, so if Uncharted 2 suffers the same fate, then... again, I would be surprised.

But Since L4D just came out last year, (meaning gamers are full of L4D, and only the most hardcore will buy a second that really should have been DLC anyways) I think Uncharted 2 will sell more.

Plus Uncharted is basically Sony's Best new exclusive this generation, and Sony has alot of them.
Plus I can see Sony bundling this game later on down the road.

I think they'll have similar opening weeks.

As for LTD, I think it could also be similar - on the one hand, L4D2 seems to me a little too much of an "update" a la yearly updates of Madden, FIFA, etc, but then on the other hand Uncharted 2 probably won't get anywhere near as much bundling as the first.

So, I'll say close for both week 1 and lifetime. My place on the fence is quite comfy!
