Here is the issue with the boards as of lately. I know the place is flooded with PS family news, and that's fine. As gamers you should all be happy. Sony is finally turning back to the days of the PS2. They are pushing for more and more games, dropping prices, making things the way they should have.

The PSP has so many new games coming for it, I strongly believe it is now the #1 platform for a core gamer to own. I cannot even remember how many awesome games are coming out for it.

The PS3 is finally at a fair price point, and no matter how you put it, it is selling well. This means people want a PS3. the price is low yes, but people want it, a lot of people want it. No matter how long lived the success or to what degree, as of right this moment, Sony is successful. The PS3 is sold out, its in the tops on every amazon as the highest selling console, no matter what you say, at this very moment it _appears_ that a 299$ ps3 is going to sell very well. Until we know otherwise, stop jumping to conclusions.

Euh, no. Sony dropped the price because the consumer thaught it wasn't worth it. Just like the GC did, because Nintendo had too.

The wii hasn't dropped in price because the consumer  does (still) think  it's worth the price - Nintendo's marketing is supreme.

A console (or product) drops it's price to lengthen the curve of falling demand. The quicker you're forced to do this, the weaker the consumer demand (of the console -  or product) is.
