Forums - Sales - I am willing to bet that the PS3 will outsell the 360 by Year's end..

ps3 will surpass the 360 and create a 8 million gap lead by years end

Now that's a sensible prediction

Actually.... hang on I think I saved some people's predictions from earlier in the year....

Aha.. Crazzyman had these ranges for PS3/360 around January of this year:
PS3: 42-45 mln., X360: 35-38 mln

So he was anticipating the PS3 to be a minimum of 4 million ahead, but possibly 10 million.

back down to 5m is possible, but 3m cant happen either.

It "CAN" happen, logicly if we add assumptions and what we believe would be the most likely scenerio to occur then you will get a lower gap, possibly down a million or two. Again logicly, this generation is anything but logic (that doesn't mean its going to explode or flop, we dont have the necessary data for that, its a wait and see game)

leo. The PS3 is not going to sell like the Wii did last Christmas ever... if you look at what "can" happen, I could get struck by lightning tomorrow... in truth there is probably more chance of that than there is of the PS3 catching up to just 1 million behind X360.

It could happen, despite what your opinion or our analysis indicate, it can still happen.. its not a hurricane that we could track and give out scenerios, the PS3 is a consumer device, it depends on how many people decide to buy it.

mM

...he expected 23 million ps3's sold....

The gap will be back to 4.8 million

Ha what... you do know what analysts are right.

It is a lot LOT easier to predict and give scenarios for consumer sales than it is for hurricane paths.

If 360 sales are even in the same neighborhood as last years then this is impossible.

I don't mean highly improbably, I mean impossible. I don't think Sony has the production capacity in place to do this, so what consumers want will only matter so much.

If you mean the PS3 will sell more than 360 WW for the rest of the year, you might have a chance, if you mean the PS3 will overtake LTD sales WW by the end of the year that seems a lot less likely.

And I do mean a lot less. The PS3 would need to fly of the shelves faster than they can make them to push through more than 8M in additional sales over 360 by 31st December.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

if your going to make crazy predictions about ps3 overtaking the 360 please do it in this thread: http://www.vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=5338 for posterity

lol you finally have seen the truth Kowenicki. If the gap shrinks from the current 8.3 mill to 5 mill in 4 months, you actually agree the X360 will be crushed by the Slim.

We can't deny reality, no matter how grim it is.
