Forums - Nintendo - And Bethesda's big, mature Wii game is...

Um...lmao

Hardcore, Bethesda.

Around the Network

Nothing out of ordinary, the news will be when a western company takes into consideration the Wii and doesn't insult the intelligence of its users.

Edit: I know Bethesda is only publishing the game but it's the same.

They can blow up right?

Right?!

Wow this is my first must NOT have ever...

It looks like an arcade racing game from a decade ago

Nintendo is the best videogames company ever!

I wish I could say I was surprised. What's the use of expecting anything good from these dev's anymore? This happens every single time.

They need to slap LEGO on the game it will sell at least 500,000. LEGO games don't have to look good.

I'll bet this game is actually really fun, and the graphics are obviously severely impaired by the commitment to high frame rates even in the face of massive splitscreen, but this game is going to bomb based on looking superficially awful. And the point stands that there's nothing 'huge' or 'mature' about this title.

That's kinda hard to square with Maclean's comment:

"Wheelspin was designed exclusively for the Wii - with the intention of pushing the hardware further than any other Wii racing game to date," beamed MacLean himself.

"You have to see the graphics moving to believe its coming out of a Wii - the visuals rush past smoothly at 60 FPS all in widescreen 480P mode. We are very pleased to be working with Bethesda, many of whom have been involved with my previous titles going back 20 years."

You'd have to give a pretty generous reading to his comments to make the argument that he wasn't grossly over-promising on the visual end of things and, thus, setting up gamers to be horrifically disappointed with what they received. (And my understanding, from a few people that have played it, is it's pretty lousy and hard to control.)

haha excitement fizzing out

“When I was 5 years old, my mom always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down “happy.” They told me I didn’t understand the assignment and I told them they didn’t understand life." - author unknown

Bethesda is only publishing this game. This isn't the game they are developing.

Not sure why Hines is claiming this is the game when it's already known that it isn't.

The Bethesda game will be made by Bethesda, not Awesome Play Games and published by Detn8 in the US.  The Bethesda game comes out late next year, not 2 days ago in the US and a few weeks from now in Europe. The Bethesda game will be rated M, not rated E.

As a VP for Bethesda, Hines is really misrepresenting their company and making a complete ass of himself.

Yeah this is NOT a game by their devs.  I have no idea why Hines would lay claim to this lol.

This isn't really much to brag about considering F-Zero GX did all that about 6 years ago on the GC with 30 cars on screen and with far more detailed geometry and textures on the cars and tracks than this game currently demonstrates.
