I don't think anyone doubts that MGS4 and FFXIII will be million sellers... What many people doubt is that they can change PS3's situation. By situation I mean low sales and low 3rd party support (which, as we know, are problems that feed on each other).

 Actually, except for Warhawk that is pretty accurate.  It started with the launch and Resistance and since when anything somewhat big is released or a price drop happens that's when Sony domination starts.  The 40GB may be when it starts, I personally doubt it but I fully acknowledge I could be wrong, but I've learned to just ignore all the Sony domination starts now comments.

You call that a system seller? The PS3 just kept sinking right after the release to new all time lows.

Releasing a console early helps but doesn't always guarantee performance. Look at the dreamcast, first to release, first to die.

If you look, it's fairly obvious that people tend to hold off on deciding which console to buy in a new generation until after all 3 are out. Once they are, then sales start going because they've seen all thats being offered.

Plus, most of them are satisfied with last gen offerings cause they all know they just have to wait a year before they're all out.

All this from him adding the word "nice"? Seems a bit much.

Either way, good for sony that they hit the milestone. We'll see if the first quarter can make the PS3 rise above the 360's pace.

I do think the PS3's performance can't be compared to the 360's launch. A lot of folks were sitting back when the 360 launched - wondering if they were going to wait on the PS3 or buy a 360. After they realized the PS3 was running on fumes at the start, they are migrating to the 360. Now, with their PS2 games rendered useless by the new tough 40gb PS3, folks who had been fooled into thinking Sony really cared will now be faced with - do I keep my PS2 - do I trade it in and get 1/10 of its value - or do I keep my PS2 and buy a 360 and the killer games.

You could use the same logic to say that the only reason the 360 is ahead of the PS3 is because of North America.  Fact of the matter is, that doesn't matter.  Worldwide sales is what matters.

It's a bit different because people expect the PS3 to perform in North America, and expectations were very low for the 360 in Japan.

In any case, aligned launches comparisons make very little sense in the first place. Microsoft launched first, so they got an advantage, end of the story.... I only posted that because people usually don't notice the difference between territories and assume the PS3 is following the 360's footsteps, which is misleading.
