Forums - Sales - I thought of a big contributing factor to 360 vs ps3 sales....

I was just thinking, about 80 perecnt of my friends that play video games online use live instead of psn. I think that many people that are looking into buying a console and don't care about blue ray will choose a 360 over a ps3? Am i right?

lmao, i thought of something but i dont wanna get banned so i wont say it

the reason why people play on live alot while having both consoles is that they paid for it and want they're money's worth
i'd do this too if i was playing a timed fee, (damn World of Warcraft -_- )

If your friends wanted to play you on XBL, why wouldn't they already have an Xbox?

$199 too steep? Waiting for the price to drop down to $149? They'd still have to pay about $50 a year to stay on XBL.

At $199, price is not the limiting factor keeping most consumers from adopting the platform. Unless they're waiting for specific titles, better bundles, free hard drives or lower prices, there really isn't anything holding anyone back at this point.

ya know there are people out there with not a lot of money, ur one of the luckier ones, they may still be waiting for cheaper hardware...

The point is, if a gamer is so impressed with the platform and the XBL service, $199 is a very reasonable starting point. There are plenty of people without a lot of money, particularly outside the US in nations where any video games carry a premium price and gaming simply isn't a significant market in the entertainment sector. Dropping the price of the hardware to $149 would hardly change that unless the price of all new games was slashed across the board as well.

$149 will probably be the bottom for the Xbox 360 based on production costs and profit margins, barring $99 hardware clearing sales when the console is replaced, which I don't believe will happen for years.

The Wii will hit $99 long before that ever happens.

I too think that xbla is being a deciding factor in people jumping into an xbox gaming experience. I know some gamers do not see the point in paying 50$ a year for a service, but quite honestly it's not that bad. I wish my other entertainment fees were so low. Anyways, you really do get what you pay for.. two of my friends were convinced based off netflix streaming alone. Another friend of mine, who only owns a PS3, was lamenting just the other day how lame it was that he couldn't get to play all of Fallout 3 yet, just as my brother was excited to have finally closed out all it, and it's expansions, out in achievements. So my end point here is that it is indeed something that is worth the value and I am positive that many potential new gamers look at its values and not it's monthly cost.
