Forums - Microsoft - Xbox 360 Failure Rate is 54.2 Percent

I have a total of 7 friends where I live with 360s. 6 of them RROD'd. This figure doesn't include MY OWN. So that's 7 RRODs in a small group of friends. Of course the one that still works is totally quaking in his boots. The guy that is.
If you don't find that's f**king ballistic, well then you are. Ballistic. Not war2.

I just find it funny people aren't deterred by breaking consoles of any company (ps2, 360) and continue to buy them.

Of course this is just a survey, I signed the petition to boycott LFD 2 even though I had no intention of getting the game in the first place, especially because of Valve's recent behaviour regarding the PS3.....

Anyway, it is not surprising these numbers are high, the console was poorly designed, but we don't really know whether the knew ones are cleared, though I have no idea of the extent of the E74 thing, and of course they could all start breaking in a few years... but it has certainly been improved, but that 3% stat over buying one is shocking, I would have thought more would have been put off.... but then again, I got through 3 PS2s and don't regret it (well my last one is still working)

its a fact that the latest incarnation does not have anywhere near the same failure rate, they are also quieter and cooler than the ps3.

I bought mine about 1 year ago, and it is still really loud, I mean really loud, really really loud, though it can be stopped somewhat with the full installations.... My PS3 is silent most of the time. If you are talking about models more recently than that, then they have not had enough time to prove their reliability

Why don't MS come out with the real failure rate percent for the 360? I think people and 360 fans should know. I think the failure rate could be even higher maybe up to 60-75%. What ever it really is I believe it is still at a high rate and MS don't want to look even more worse as a console maker.

I picked up one of the latest arcades and put my 120gig HDD on it, its really quiet, and i mean really really quiet. i never run from the disc though, always preinstall. of course it hasnt had time to prove its reliability, but I seriosuly doubt the problems will be there when it runs so cool and quiet. And it IS quieter than my PS3.

Okay, with installs it could be, but I still think the PS3 is quieter, but it does not sound like a jet fighter like the old ones did

And yeah, I don't really anticipate problems, but did people anticipate RRoD?

@ kowenicki, I think it's still louder, but I can't check now, and it does not really matter, apart from the fact that I can only install 1 game at a time, though my laziness means I can rarely be bothered to change the disc anyway....

Never had a problem with my 360. I'll be sure to post something if I do. I had more problems with my PS2 the first few months of owning it, with horrible customer service. At least I know I still have 2 years left of my warranty, FREE.

Everyone needs to play Lost Odyssey! Any opposition to this and I will have to just say, "If it's a fight you want, you got it!"

I don't know if anyone said this or not, but I bet if this "Survey" was done on vgchartz, it would have a 75-85% failure rate.

Actuall its at 41.25% right now.  http://www.vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=82539&page=1

And in another survey by VGChartz we found out the fact that Uncharted 2 will be bigger than Halo ODST & NSMB Wii......
