Forums - General - Wow, this is the definition of ignorance

Sorry if I sound agitated and hostile, but I get annoyed by all this bashing of Christianity and people's tendency to want to believe in the demonizing of and fake portrayals of X-ians.

Now highwaystar101, will you please change the OP. This is a joke video.

People are inclined to believe all negative things about Christians. EA Dante's Inferno E3 fake protest campaign comes to mind, then this thread in off-topic a few months ago linking to that ultra conservate christian homepage that you all thought was real Christians, until I called it.

Get real, this video is fake.

A. I didn't mention anything about christianity. YOU made that assumption, I didn't mention it in my OP.

B. The video isn't fake, they even did an entire video explaining about how it wasn't fake and they thought the replies were rude.

A. Of course I made that assumption. U think Im stupid? If these girls were liberals or something else closer to your ideologies, your mind would go into critical-thinking mode, but since they were Christians u just ate it all up. Food for thought next time u watch the news, man.

B. I can detect that they are joking and trolling. It's a form of satire. You can't detect it?

If u dont believe me, look at how they tagged their video:

Taggar:
indian  christian  convert  hindu  molly  converting  god  is  real  jesus  poe's  law  Henry  Fielding

Henry Fielding? Hint: ask yourself if (supposedly) ignorant ppl like these have brain enough to tag it with Henry Fielding.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henry_Fielding

Good find.

Poe's Law states:
“ Without a winking smiley or other blatant display of humor, it is impossible to create a parody of Fundamentalism that SOMEONE won't mistake for the real thing."

poe's law is a tag on this video. It's a parody, as slimebeast says.

I'm an atheist, and I know plenty of fundies that are this ignorant, but this is a parody to prove poes law. Which has been done quite successfully, seeing as how I saw this video on the Richard Dawkins Forums earlier this week. While slimebeast can claim victory on this one, it still says something about how religious fundementalism is rapidly aging in modern society.  I live in Kentucky, and I can say that what is portrayed in this is a reality in many places you go. Granted this only applies to fundementalists and not liberal christians, but there are no shortage of fundementalists in the US. There are an abundance of legitimate websites (like answers in genesis) and spokespeople that would be completely impossible to discern as parody or reality when put next to things such as this. When it's impossible to tell a joke from reality, then the reality has become the joke.

You can find me on facebook as Markus Van Rijn, if you friend me just mention you're from VGchartz and who you are here.

Well, if this isn't real, then they're geniuses, probably laughing they're asses off while people are falling for it.

And if it is... well... pretty funny! :P

She does mention Henry Fielding as a tag and he is a very famous satirist thanks for pointing that out. That may prove this could be a joke. but if it is a joke then she is still ignorant as it is full of very un-PC humour, in fact if it is a joke she is FAR MORE ignorant in my book.

But what sold it for me as not being a joke was the subsequent video where she spent the first two minutes talking about the video, she seemed genuinely offended. Also, if it is a joke then she keeps her charachter in other videos.

Tither way, joke or not, the girl is quite frankly an ignorant cow!

And I'm sorry if I offended you about Christianity, I admit I am critical about religion, but I wouldn't call myself a hater. But in my defense I made an effort to highlight the bit in the video where they were just chatting about Indias location and refusing to listen to the girl who was from india, which is the bit that shocked me.

I will change my OP to say it could be a joke or it may not. Either way she is ignorant in my book.

No, just stop it. There are extreme cases among any sub-group be it christians, muslims, commies, racial minorities, environmentalists, nazis, liberals, peace activists, animal activists, freedom fighters, nationalists, psychologists, social workers, politicians and so on. There's fundamentalists in all these groups I listed.

"There are an abundance of legitimate websites (like answers in genesis) and spokespeople that would be completely impossible to discern as parody or reality when put next to things such as this" is just mean and ill-witted.

You are burnt and ashamed that you were a religious zealot. Psychologically speaking, it seems you're trying to over-compensate for your past errors. Your criticism aint valid.

I haven't watched the video yet (it's taking forever to load), but I'm already pretty sure it's fake.

I had my doubts before even clicking but when I read this in the description:

p.s. there have been a lot of people wondering whether this video is real or not. i will say that it is as real as God

It's fake, she's just fucking with people on YouTube.

I find this thread to be so ironic coming from someone that thinks Iran is an Arabic country.

I'm not anti-christian. I would agree that there are fundementalists in all groups. But the US has a glut of religious fundementalists. And if you notice in my post I didn't say "Christianity is aging in modern society." I said Fundementalism is. So obviously I'm talking about fundementalists. And answers in genesis is daft, it is a sespool of ignorance. That's not mean, that's true. People like Kirk Cameron and ray comfort are laughing stocks to everyone except those that eat it up in earnest. Ray Comforts famous "Banana's are from god" bit could just as easily be a poe's law video.

Nearly half of the US thinks that the earth is 6000 years old, the majority of the US doesn't believe in evolution. When it comes to religious fundementalism the US is quickly becoming a joke among an increasingly liberal (religiously) world. The rest of the world is leaving biblical literalism behind as the ignorance and superstitions that it is. But America is desperately clinging onto them to the point that it is both disturbing and laughable.

I'd appreciate it if you didn't try to make it personal, and say that psychologically speaking I cannot have a voice about the state of religion in the US. When I say I was a zealot, I was still more liberal than alot of the US (I wasn't a young earth creationist). My critisisms are perfectly valid, and your ad hominem doesn't some how make answers in genesis a thoughtful and scientific website.
