Forums - Nintendo - Press: When are you ditching the Wii?

Whenever I'm reading an interview for a Wii game, I constantly see questions that strike me as inappropriate. Not in a vulgar or crude 'inappropriate', but questions that aren't relevant to the console. Here are some examples:

  • During an interview a few months before The Conduit's release, some guy in the video asked, 'So, is this coming to the 360"? The guy from High Voltage Software proceeded to say something along the bounds of, "If they moneyhat".
  • In an interview conducted with a member of the Tatsunoku vs Capcom team, he was asked "is this coming to the 360 or PS3?" It isn't like they have Street Fighter 4, Soul Calibur 4, Dead or Alive 4, Blazblue, King of Fighters, or the Marvel vs Capcom 2 games right? The guy being interviewed went on to say something along the lines of "we're trying to keep it Wii-only".
  • ***No More Heroes potentially going multiplatform is exciting, I'll admit, but it was supposed to be on the 360 in the first place. Personally, from what people I know in my daily life have told me, the Wii is a "glorified paperweight". But if the system sucks so bad, why do they want one of its exclusives? That is just in my life; it may be different for you.
  • Towards the end of 2008, (IGN especially) in reviews from the gaming press, they mentioned which 3rd party games are better than "the shovelware that's burying the console". For games that "set a bar", it is a nice compliment. However, after reading it in the review for every 3rd party game that was worth a damn, it has gotten redundant and annoying.
  • .........I have room for several more but,......etc,.

I am only interested primarily in Nintendo news, so when I scour the net for info, I only read Ninty-related material. I'm pretty sure Sony enthusiasts may have to read the same junk too, but I haven't noticed.

I can't be the only person here that has noticed this course of action as well. If you have an example or disagree, be free to share.

To a certain degree, I don't mind the interviewers asking if the games are going to the other platforms - it's not like they don't ask the same question in reverse when a big game is announced for PS3 or 360. Besides, it lets the developer reinforce the fact that the Wii is getting some damn good exclusives.

I could definitely do without all the references to all the shovelware when it's not necessary, though.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

"Ok, girl's trapped in the elevator, and the power's off.  I swear, if a zombie comes around the next corner..."

Asking about the exclusivity of 3rd party games happens to games on all consoles. Just the way things are, it's what people want to know.

...

I'm with you 100%. Even with the case with The Grinder, the interviewer from destructoid goes on to ask if this can be done on 360..? It came out of no where and is like where the fuck did that come from? I don't hear the same situations happening for exclusives on 360 or ps3 being asked if its coming to Wii (not from Wii owners, we hear that all the time, I mean gaming media).

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.

The press has done a great job screwing the reputation of the Wii, they basically trash every game with the word "Wii" on it

Nintendo is the best videogames company ever!

For me and at this point, i just enjoy watching the media complain about how the Wii is getting good games. It doesn't happen often, but i enjoy it, simply because they've embittered me to the point that their anxiety inspires pleasant feelings in me.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

i think its just an info if you ask about which consoles does the game come on.
because people need to know, to buy the game?

The fourm title is confuseing why not have it say when is the game going to the HD platforms
anyway I think they want more game. I mean whgat's the point buy the system instead

My media brethren do tend to ask slanted questions at times. It's rather annoying.

I've asked a few of them about it and they say they have no qualms about interjecting their personal biases into an interview and have intentionally slighted the Wii on more than a few occasions in their professional course of work.

2 of them pointed out that it was their editors decision to bark up that tree and not their own personal choice so I gave them a free pass.

The rEVOLution is not being televised

how about this, I was watching an interview and xplay asked "so is this game comming out on wii?" and the asshole replied "NO were not developing for that thing" and I thought that faggot should have been smacked for being such a dick I was actually thinking at the same time if they weren't so stupid they could probably make more money also putting the game on wii but I guess they were to dumb to no that.....,.
