There could or could not be a PS3 slim coming soon

There is no reason to believe it's not though... if only for the reason that if it's not coming people will just claim something delayed it.

There is at least a pricecut/new SKU coming of some kind. Sony's current fiscal projections are silly.

August 18th is the most likely date.

Add to the evidence the current increase in parts orders for PS3 components from vendors at a time when current stock is thinning out, sales are being offered, the primary 80GB SKU in Japan has been removed from order listings, etc.

I'm not sure why so many people appear to not want to see a cheaper, smaller PS3 other than for something insignificant like it will throw off their sales predictions.

I would have nothing against it. I just haven't seen any real evidence (only fake and circumstancial) apart from the previously correct moles. And I hadn't heard of those before making this thread.

You may be the only person who doesn't believe in it at all. I don't know whether or not it exists at this point; what I don't believe in is the price-cut everyone seems to think will accompany a Slim if it materializes. The point of a Slim, I believe, is to cut costs so Sony can make a profit, not so that Sony can cut the price.

Sony's fiscal forecast disagrees with this logic in two different ways.

First of all, there is absolutely no way Sony could come anywhere close to selling 13 million PS3s by the end of March without a significant price drop in the next two months.

Second of all, there is again absolutely no reason why Sony would be forecasting such a massive loss for this fiscal year if they were going to be profiting off the PS3 by the margin that the slim would give them at $399.

Why would they announce it now. Most likely there is a slim and they're just waiting for the holidays to release it because of production. If they announce now who's going to want a Fat PS3 then they'll just have a bunch of fat PS3's sitting on shelves.
