Forums - Gaming - end of eternity - gameplay exploration of city - looks very nice

@Slime

But this isn't a shooter......and this appears to be gameplay of exploring a city so it makes sense that he isn't walking around a wide open plane. This seems to be more an issue of perception than of freedom, not every game is going to have a wide open field to play around in.

Does it now? Famitsu gave the game a perfect score.

The west however mostly shunned the game and didn't buy it. In Europe, the game didn't even sell a million!

I am talking the general population in Japan, not some magazine that might give scores to games based on hype.  The West did not shun the game, it sold very well in America and decent in Europe.

That's not true at all!

FF12 sold less than Final Fantasy X-2 in Europe and the same in America.

Not to mention FFX did a million more in both regions than FFXII.

Going even farther back, FFXII sold the same amount as FFIX in Europe.

They don't have to make it that linear even if it's a city. Yes, perception is important too, but they failed in this case, it's so easily detectable that they using invisible walls and unnatural stuff to block all off-paths.

Compare this to GTA4 or the cities in Far Cry 2. Well, maybe open world games are an unfair comparison lol. But let's say Call of Duty. CoD is very linear but still perception is better, it seems at least a little more free than the old corridor shooters.

But end of eterity is worse than anything i seen (if this video is representative).

All he's doing is walking about in a town. He didn't even bother to go into any of the shops.

I don't think this is a fair accusation.

lol no, FF XIII will be released in the same time period, fans will chose FF. Although this looks decent.

Not at all actually. Valkyria Chronicles didn't have any city exploration, at all. Every.

The only times you could control the characters were the missions.
