He obviously meant in terms of JRPGs. Honestly I don't disagree with him. The way reviews and journalism have been going this gen big titles (hype, acclaimed gaming series's, technical beasts, games with mass appeal to hardcore) tend to be vastly overscored this gen. I'm not saying this has no chance at getting a 90+... just that the odds are against it given the way this gen has gone.

Which game will be better is up to each player to decide. So far this has my interest more than XIII and VS but we'll see how that changes as more media is released for all 3 titles.

I don't want to look like I'm doubting that it'll be good, but genre evolving how? JRPG's haven't changed much since the SNES sweet times... the only difference is that the quality dropped...

You know I disagree vehemently with this statement.

And I'd say the video looks pretty good. Not a fan of the character design, but I think the music is good. While not Ishimoto's best, I'm a sucker for good violin.

Cliche stories and characters? check.

Grinding? check.

Mini games? check.

Battle system linked by common rules established way back when? check.

there are exceptions... but... very few.

Also, lots of people hold the SNES as the best console for JRPG's to this day. See the forums. I'm not included though.
