and the power it has over the 360 isn't the "light years" thing that PR leads on casuals to believe.
this thread isn't about "which console is more powerful". i'm talking about sony's PR stating it's "way beyond anything on the market today".
so yea, your post is rather irrelevant. |
I dont remember them claiming that, link? I do remember them saying it could be used as a standalone PC with the web browser and multimedia capabilities.
True, but I'm sure by the end of the gen we'll see just how large the performance gap is.
Back when they made claims like that (2006-2007), it was unlike anything at the time. It had Blu-ray, SACD playback, and powerful hardware with an HDMI port capable of outputting 1080P (very rare at the time). On a value standpoint, it is unmatched.
Nothing to say to this, but I like pink.

Damn, these responses shoulda shut you up, bugrimmar. Instead you discounted them and here we are.
Only thing I'll add is that IF Sony these days says "way beyond anything on the market", if they mean PCs too, that would be false unless one takes into account price vs all the features, for I don't think you can get a gaming machine w/ blu-ray for the price of a PS3. If they say "way beyond anything on the market" referring to 360 and Wii, well, even if Cell/RSX don't themselves qualify vs the CPU/GPU combo of 360, I think PS3's suite of features, taken together, arguably can.
Microsoft DID play up their performance advantage w/ Xbox, which in terms of marketing they had every right to do. "No one cared", slimebeast, in the sense that PS2 still sold gangbusters, and here one could say that "no one cares" b/c even if PS3 is more powerful, at this point it isn't strongly overtaking 360. It's still at too high a price point to do so.
