Pull up PS2 numbers that exclude the top tier JRPGS(FF, KH, DQ, ect) and you will see a similar pattern. Almost all of the JRPGs on the 360 are new IPs. I think those numbers are pretty good for new IPs.
I agree while most of the new IPs seem to be selling, at the very least adequate, the ones that are not new IPs, SO4 and ToV (compare to either ToA, ToD2 ToR - with the last two only available in Japan), have sold much less than their PS2 counterparts.
SO4 was hurt by mixed reviews and ToV was hurt by poor marketing.
Point taken with SO4, but it's still considerably less than its predecessor. Even when considering it's only a few months into its sales - jRPGs aren't know for their legs.
As for ToV; I'm sure there wasn't much more in terms of marketing for ToA, ToD2 and ToR

The later two Tales games never got released in the West. Also, I am only talking about the West. In Japan, Tales games are marketed very well.
The hell? And they can't do that here because why? I'm pretty sure it they would've marketed their games here in the West, then more than likely they would see an increase in sales like they did with TOS(if memory serves but I'm pretty sure they got help from Nintendo). Now if they could market TOV on PS3 in the West with help from Sony (If it gets here however)....

I can understand why Atlus and NISA don't try TV commercials but Namco Bandai are a large company, they should be able to advertise all of their high profile games.
Although Atlus and NISA don't advertise, at least they give their games a chance (Ever since SMT: Nocturne came State side and was rather successful at least every Mega Ten , Devil Summoner, and Persona game has stated to come stateside, Unlike other companies *coughNamcoandSquareenixcough*) Hence why they are at the top of my list of favorite companies
