Pull up PS2 numbers that exclude the top tier JRPGS(FF, KH, DQ, ect) and you will see a similar pattern. Almost all of the JRPGs on the 360 are new IPs. I think those numbers are pretty good for new IPs.

You must consider that the lower sales of those RPGs are due to lack of advertisement which was not a problem for Star Ocean 4, Lost Odyssey, The Last Remnant, etc.

And i would say that outside of Japan most of those JRPGs did as well as their PS2 counterparts.

Tales of Vesperia and Star Ocean 4 did less than half of their prequels. (Tales of the Abyss did 600k and SO3 did 620k I think)

If you exclude Japan, then the 360 JRPGs did about the same as PS2 JRPGs. If there were 20 million 360s in Japan, then yeah JRPGs would do better.
