PS1 & PS2 games do not belong to the PS3 era. You're still only praising the PS3 for its power, rather than the overall package. The SNES offered way more than the PS3 to gamers. When someone says king of the consoles, it means they are really talking about a top system of a generation that surpasses all. In that respect, the PS3 is no comparison.

The SNES didn't have even remotely as large of a software library as the PS3.
The thread asked which console was the King. I took that to mean "in reality, without any silly 'only consider this subset of entertainment, from this generation'" restrictions.
A BC PS3, easily. As I stated.
In your restricted world, where you bend the rules to your own whims, I'm sure there are a lot of interesting outcomes. In my restriction-free world (I like to call it "real life"), where I see a console capable of playing thousands upon thousands of games, and far more than any of its competitors, the BC PS3 is quite clearly the King.
If you hate all things PlayStation, Stage, then I can totally understand why the PS3's titanic library has no appeal for you. Your choice totally makes sense, from that perspective.

What the hell are you talking about? The PS3's library couldn't hold a candle to the SNES library even though it had 785 games. A BC PS3 may play games not of its generation, but a Nintendo Wii plays its games and more, which makes the value way higher. BC means only one thing...and thats the capability to relive nostalgia, which even though some PS3's might have it, it shows just how dear previous generations of playstation consoles were to us. I am not in a restricted world. You live in a world where power is king and depth, gameplay, and gamer moral mean nothing. I don't hate on all things Procrastinato, but the PS3 wouldn't even make the top 5 of the greatest systems of all time. The PS2 and PSX were far greater (despite Sony playing dirty). The PS3 doesn't have a titanic library of games. It's a young console with a growing amount of games. No console this gen can contend to be the greatest of all time. They are all lacking in one way or another.
Reasons why the SNES was king:
1. When the SNES was in existence, it was considered the "Golden Age" of gaming.
2. No other system had more variety in games.
3. Gamer moral was extremely high on the SNES
4. Saving games was not a hassle.
5. Nintendo have always been known for quality hardware that wont break on you.
6. Ruled the gaming era in a time before people felt like they were being had by corporate entities.
7. Had best and most first party games.
8. Was Nintendos crowning achievement for most ergonomic controller. Many controllers after would emulate the SNES controller
9. Nintendo had the most first party gear for the system out of any other company.
