If I got to take one console to a desert island with me, where I would stay for the rest of my days...

(A) Console never breaks, and power is not a concern.

(B) Cost of the console, and any media is not a concern.

(C) You get all the games the console can play, any music it can play, and any movie it can play.

(D) Online play is free, even if there is "usually" a charge, and the connection is top-notch.

60GB launch PS3, easily. No other console even comes close. Even if the movies and music didn't come to the island, it would still be the 60GB PS3.  If there was a king, in the gamer's eyes... that'd be it, I think.

Strange question, though.

The combined PS1/PS2/PS3 library, along with PSN ...
vs.
The combined GC/Wii library, along with WiiWare AND VIRTUAL CONSOLE!!!

If you don't count movies, which the Wii can't play, are you so sure?

Yup.  The Wii is a strong contender (I have a lot of VC and GC games, too), but the PS2 library alone trumps it, I'm afraid.  I own a 60GB PS3, and a hella lotta PS1, PS2, PS3 games.  Its a dream machine.. particularly with the upscaling on PS1 games.  They look amazing on the big screen.

Speaking of the Wii's VC, though, I am totally into the RPGs at the moment... just finished Shining Force (was *awesome*), and now I'm workin' on Breath of Fire 2 (again... I love it).

Still.. there aren't enough.  The BC PS3 combo library kicks the crap out of any other console in existance.  I adore my Wii and 360, and their BC, etc... but if I had to choose, the choice is clear.  There's only one King.

PS1 & PS2 games do not belong to the PS3 era. You're still only praising the PS3 for its power, rather than the overall package. The SNES offered way more than the PS3 to gamers. When someone says king of the consoles, it means they are really talking about a top system of a generation that surpasses all. In that respect, the PS3 is no comparison.

When someone says "King of Consoles", it's their opinion. There are plenty of people who didn't care for the winning consoles of a generation, and this gen is no different.

I say, the "King" is what YOU want it to be. Fighting over a petty label is useless...

Super NES wasn't my favorite console. I am just judging things based on all around activity. I was more of a fan of the Dreamcast. I guess thats why I am so close to the 360. It feels like a clear successor to the Dreamcast. Everything from the controller to the system qualities if you think about it.
