Final Fantasy III (NES) and Fake Final Fantasy III (SNES) which is really Final Fantasy VI are both much better than the Fake Final Fantasy II (SNES) which is really Final Fantasy IV. Even the real Final Fantasy II (NES) is better than than Final Fantasy IV.

You can't mean this...

And FF III (snes) = FF VI (PS1/GBA)

Just start both, see wich one interests you more, and play that one.

Simple.

You should probably play FF III first and then IV. I've played both and really like both of the games.

I would recommend V to anyone. Not only is the gameplay more varied than IV due to the monster training portion, but, in my opinion, the story and characters are much more interesting.

I think Final Fantasy V is the best Final Fantasy.  I highly recommend it and I would like to see it on Virtual Console.

He's talking about Dragon Quest 5, not Final Fantasy 5.

III's story is straight forward, it doesn't rely on characters.
IV's Story is more linear it relies on characters.

III is like I , II.
IV is like X.

I never played Dragon Warrior 5.  I used the American name Dragon Warrior and not the Japanese name Dragon Quest.  Final Fantasy 5 is the best Final Fantasy.

Final Fantasy II (NES), Final Fantasy III (NES), Final Fantasy V (SNES)  were not originally sent to the US and Square Soft got lazy with numbering.  This is why the numbers are so weird.

EDIT:

So Final Fantasy III (SNES) United States=Final Fantasy VI (SNES) Japan

Enough expository banter! Now we fight like men! And ladies! And ladies who dress like men! For Gilgamesh...it is morphing time!

I would strongly recommend Final Fantasy IV. I think it's the strongest in the series when it comes to storytelling.

SPOILERS IN LINK - Kasz, RubangB and I discussed it just a few months back. Rarely in a video game, are story, theme and character so masterfully woven together as they are in FFIV.

FFIV is widely regarded as one of, if not the, best in the series. FFIII, not so much... and not just in the western world. On a personal level, FFIII is the only mainline FF game I was unmotivated to finish, while FFIV is my favourite in the series.

Edit: Also, in terms of music, FFIV easily wins. It contains some of the greatest themes and songs in the series.

yeah i agree, i dont understand all the hate for ffIV in this thread. its in my top three behind 9 and 7.

I prefer RPGs with more freedom to customize the characters like Final Fantasy II (NES), III (NES), V(SNES).

So does Final Fantasy III (DS) = Final Fantasy VI (PS/GBA)?
