WTF They've got more money in the bank than Microsoft!!!!

As predicted, Apple also put more money into the bank during the quarter, adding $2.2 billion to bring its cash holdings to $31.1 billion total. That's second only to Cisco Systems in the technology industry.

daveJ they're getting to the same point as Microsoft, where they have little they can do with their money.

They may do what Microsoft did and give a special cash dividend to investors to decrease those cash reserves.

No, I am not. It is widely known that Microsoft once paid out $32 billion to investors to decrease their cash reserves:

Because they had money that they were not going to use, and stopped money is stale money which isn't doing anything for the owners of the company (i.e. the shareholders).

The shareholders got that money, and Microsoft still has more than enough cash to meet their needs. Everyone's happy.

I suppose when you got so much money you wouldn't know what to do with it anymore, you can see why they can throw so much money when making games timed exclusives and stuff

true they did do a pay out back in the day, but if you have been watching MS stock is not even considered a safe place for money right now.

though on apples side they do need to do something with the money they have..... they could right now buy sony for market cap value +  10% though that would require taking on sonys debt... apple is debt free right now

or buy EA, actiblizz, Take 2, in cash 20% premium and still have money in the bank
