Forums - Sony - first PSP GO console review

Ajescent said:
The Gadget show is reasonably respectable here in uk land, so I wouldn't dismiss him straight off however I will take point with people who are stupid enough to claim folks with psp won't buy a Go...OF COURSE THEY WON'T BUY A GO, THEY ALREADY OWN A BLOODY PSP, WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU BUY A NEW CAR WHICH IS PRETTY MUCH THE EXACT SAME ONE YOU HAVE IN YOUR GARAGE!!!

Seriously, how can anyone argue that psp owners will want to buy another one? Did 1k owners all rush out to buy the 2k and so on? So why now? This is obviously aimed at people who don't currently own one so folks throwing tantrums and claiming this won't get psp owners to buy a new psp should realise that it was never meant to.

Well Sony say about 25% of 1000 owners bought 2000s, I am most likely going to get a go, and Sony say they expect about 25% to upgrade again, but though I like the Gadget Show, I can't agree with everything he says

why you guys need a review for?
its a PSP with a different look , and no UMD.

gee, stop bashing PSP Go already. that thing hasn't even gotten released yet. if you don't like/need it for any reason, don't buy it.

whether you want to upgrade from your old PSP or to get a PSP for the first time. it's always a good thing to have more options. and there will be people who doesn't care to spend more for better portability, bluetooth connection, and build-in internal memory.

and who is that guy giving the preview anyway? he complained about the button layout of PSP Go but encouraged people getting a iPhone for gaming? wtf? then why the button layout is an issue? is it so comfortable to play games with "virtual buttons" on iPhone? i can't believe you "gamers" actually use his words against PSP Go?

remember this? the preview from the News Editor of Destructoi. a great gaming site that I have a lot of respects for (maybe not so much for Jim Sterling, but every site needs a dramatic guy to get more attention) please take a look at the clip and listen to what he said about his impression on PSP Go:
http://www.destructoid.com/e3-09-hands-on-with-the-psp-go-134707.phtml

after October 1, go to the stores and experience it yourself. then make comments on why you don't like it. yes, i also feel the $249 price tag of PSP Go is too high, and i wish Sony have priced it at $199. but i don't blame Sony and i am willing to save money here and there for extra $50, because i like it.

so Nintendo makes money on every DS is brilliant but for Sony making money on PSP is purely greedy and sinful? i really don't understand the logic behinds this.

It (PS3's market share) might hit 30%, but definently not more. ~ Neo

Great post.

Regarding who will buy it for 250$, I'm one of those PSP2000, PSP3000 owner who will upgrade only because the Go fits in my handbags.

To all those that are dismissing the reviewer, they need to think again. Jason Bradbury is a respected gadget enthusiast in the UK, and aside from appearing as several characters in Assassin's Creed, he is also on the judging panel for the BAFTA Video Game Awards, so he pretty much does have a fair bit of knowledge in the gaming field.

The review was for the Gadget Show in the UK, a show which covers a wide range of gadgets and gizmos, and has a wide audience too. So for him to say that iPhone owners may not be interested in the PSP Go is a valid point for him to make, considering the iPhone does pretty much what the Go does, and as the viewers are gadget enthusiasts more than gamers, they would appreciate the comparison.

The guy is basically saying both the PSP and the iPhone is better than DS. This guys opinion does not matter

That's not what he is saying. Jason Bradbury happens to quite like the DS as far as I'm led to believe.

I found most of what he said quite valid.

He is saying that if you have an iPhone, you don't necessarily need the PSP Go, as the iPhone is sufficient for that kind of gaming.

If you have a PSP already, there is no need to upgrade.

However, given the design of the PSP Go, existing DS owners that want a substantial hardware/graphical upgrade to the DS would be advised to get the Go, as the general feel is quite similar.

Therefore, the only market, in his opinion, that would be interested in the PSP Go is the DS market if they wanted a graphical boost (and multimedia on their handheld). Given that DS owners are generally quite happy with their handheld (and he knows this), that's hardly a glowing review for the Go, is it? And the price is quite a factor in this too. 250 Euros is roughly £214, which is much higher than the price of a DSi. It's even more than a Wii!

This review was wrong in just so many ways.... Im waiting for more professional ones tbh, like Pockegamers review thank you

I would definitely have a PSP Go over an iPhone.
16 GB storage for non drm music and videos.
And it plays PSP games, not little apps.

I'm fairly sure the music on my Iphone is not DRM and it has 32gb.

as for little aps, so far I find my 0.79€ games to be providing a lot of value for the buck, plus the accelerometer of the Iphone is really interesting to use in games...

That said, yes PSP has better games... but it does a crappy job for phoning and emails. On the internet side too the Iphone is more flexible... especially by not being restricted by Wifi.

Games for Iphone should start to expand... more thowards the DS style due to the touchscreen, and looking by sales, that is the bigger market.

Well what I meant to say was that the music is all wrapped up in itunes and you can't just easily put music on or take it off without running it through itunes. It's a hassel. And on the games side - the games are fun but the guy is comparing it to a psp.

I hate when women do that..." Babe, why are you buying that?" "Cuz it looks so nice in my bag..."
