I think you'll find that the best selling game this gen already has or will be released this year or next year. I'm only saying that because games released late in a consoles life will have limited time to sell mass numbers before the next next-gen is released.
Also, the best sellers are usually well-known franchises. I can't see a completely new franchise best selling this gen.

I think everyone agrees Mario Sunshine was sub-par for a Mario game and not reflective of Galaxies potential.

Don't know about GT4, although I know GT3 outsold it by a long shot.

For consoles, I really think that Super Mario Galaxy will come out on top. Grand Theft Auto IV and Halo 3 will do extremely well, but I think Galaxy, appealing to a wider audience, will sell more. But if you include the handhelds, Nintendogs looks like the winner.

Actually Nintendogs was bundled with a special Blue or Pink DS back in 2005. It came with Nintendogs: Best Friends Edition or something. The thing cost 150USD.

I think Mario Kart Wii(underdog) because of online but Galaxy, Brawl,GTA & Halo will be real close to so.....?????? who knows
