Monster Hunter Freedom Unite PSP Sells 3.5M In Japan

Capcom's popular Monster Hunter series is continuing to enjoy its tradition of massive success in Japan, with the publisher saying its Monster Hunter Freedom Unite has sold over 3.5 million units in the region.

The action RPG is the first PSP game to cross that milestone, Capcom claims.

Unite was released in Japan in March 2008. Its releases in North America and Europe followed only last month, but the game has been supported by a heavier U.S. advertising campaign than the series has traditionally received, as Capcom presumably hopes to transform the franchise into a more broadly global hit.

The improbably-named Monster Hunter Freedom Unite PSP The Best version of the game launched in Japan in October, and has been responsible for 1 million of the total 3.5 million Japanese sales.

Capitalizing on that success, the Monster Hunter Festa event will be held again this August, to "bring fans of the game together in celebration of all things Monster Hunter."

Saw it claimed as shipped elsewhere. Obviously includes the "best edition" which is we have it listed in the totals.

That's great it could possibly hit 4 million with U.S and others.

I reckon it has a good possibility of hitting 4 million in Japan alone.

Could possibly hit the 4Million with the huge advertising campaign that MH3 is getting.

I wish I still had my psp so I could play this.

I don't see why 2G can't sell 4 million in Japan.

It has also had a great start in the West.
