Perhaps, Lost Planet 2 Is A Timed Exclusive

Yes, we know that Capcom's action shooter Lost Planet 2 is a multi-platform game. But the title's Japanese site seems to indicate that the Xbox 360 might be getting it first.

The release date for the Xbox 360 version is "This Winter". The release for the PS3 version is, well, not listed. It's TBA. That could mean either that the game will be released after the Xbox 360 version or perhaps even before. Hey, it could even be releasing at the same time, and Capcom's web team is being lazy.

Then again, with the confusion Capcom caused after the announcement that this game is multi-platform and the way the trailer launched on Xbox LIVE, we're banking on it hitting the PS3 later.

Lost Planet 2 Could Be Time Exclusive
Capcom lists the 360 version for winter.
by John Tanaka

June 12, 2009 - Lost Planet 2 went from being an assumed Xbox 360 exclusive to being totally multiplatform at E3. But not so fast! Xbox 360 owners may be getting a slight advantage with the highly anticipated Capcom sequel.

Capcom Japan officially acknowledged the presence of the PS3 version today through the Lost Planet official Japanese site. The page now contains a listing for the PS3 version of Lost Planet 2 alongside the 360 version.

There's one difference between the two listings, though. While the 360 version is listed for a winter 2009 Japanese release, the PS3 version is listed as date TBD.

This could be an error on Capcom's part (although if it were, we imagine Capcom would have corrected it by now -- they haven't). Alternatively, it's conceivable that Lost Planet 2 will be yet another time exclusive for the Xbox 360.

We'll let you know if we hear anything official.

Lost Planet 2: 'Day and Date launch on both platforms is the plan' says Capcom

Following a release schedule update on the official Japanese Lost Planet 2 site -- which seemed to indicate a window of exclusivity for Xbox 360 -- Capcom USA has confirmed to Joystiq that the game will ship for Microsoft and Sony's platforms simultaneously in the US and Europe. "Day and Date launch on both platforms is the plan," Capcom PR director Chris Kramer told us. "Might ship a bit earlier in Japan (like RE5), but US/European releases will be simultaneous."

Kramer couldn't confirm a hard release date, though, instead pointing to the timetable we've already seen. "Winter is the best we can do right now," he admitted. While there are those who undoubtedly want to see the Lost Planet sequel on shelves ASAP, it'd be a shame for it to get lost in the holiday shuffle.

i dont see why it would be timed exclusive in japan since capcom games do far better on ps3 there
and normally the announce the game was timed exclusive after its been released on xbox announceing it before will kill it sales

Can someone tell me what the hell Lost Planet is about?

BUT FFS! This has nothing to do with nitpicking exlusivity. This post is about new screenshots of a multiplatform game. Playstation owners would be interested to see these aswell and therefor it should be under Gaming.

I highly doubt that the 9 new screenshots is a matter of timed exclusivity in whatever region because there is not confirmed release date!!?

Fucking fanboys.

Look at it as if you were abonden of a frozen Planet..you have to find and help move other people...Then these pirates show up...and your like..What about teh monsters? The Akird carry a type of energy and  your kind finds a way to harness it to keep you alive....

It was really about a Multiplayer TPS with Mechs and awesome guns
