Everyone expected bigger numbers for the Wii but we were spot on on WSR in the official bet thread.

it was sequel to game already hit the platform and was heavily bundled.
well at least a price cut is almost confirmed for japan.
only games that haven't hit the platform yet will give it a boost, monster hunter 3 or dragon quest X (in 2 -3 years when it's released).

Wii Sports wasn't bundled in Japan.

i mean worldwide, generally speaking since game it's going to be released worldwide.

either way the wii is 211$ in japan.

The problem is it is only released in Japan so far. We don't know yet how it would affect hardware numbers when it's released everywhere else. You are generalizing it.

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.

Wow.... lower then expected... Wii needs more hardcore games, lets hope that MH3 will give it a better boost :D

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

MH3 will do this

Didnt it have a bundle with a Blue Wii?

Or is that America?

No, your just mistaken.  There is only a drawing to win a Blue Wiimote & nunchuk and it's in limited numbers.

I don't know where you got the blue Wii bundle from.  Wishful thinking more than anything I guess.

I was sort of close- I bet that the Wii would be at 30k this week.

Ahhh, i have no idea where i got the idea from then

Price won't be confirmed until we see what MH3 does for sustained jumps.

A couple points

First, it's not so much the first week's bump that matters it's the sustained rise in sales from WSR that'll be important.

If Nintendo wants new casuals to notice WSR then they need to take to the malls again and get people to try WM+. People without Wii's just assumed Wiis worked like that all the time though.

I suspect NSMBWii will probably do more to boost sales than WSR but this year Nintendo has really done themselves a disservice by not further exploring the blue ocean. All titles are red ocean sequels. And again Nintendo is not supporting it's own peripheral (WM+) with any other games this year.

I do think a Wii price cut as well as colours are very likely this year (and long overdue). I also think if both MS & Nintendo cut prices then Sony is still screwed despite any price cut and will remain last.

Lastly, thanks to WS and WF the Wii has a huge mature female market that noone - not even Nintendo - is capitalizing on. There's gold in dem hills folks! Once someone figures out how to mine it.

Not a huge bump, but the key is whether it sustains, if this keeps Wii in the 20K range for the next few months, then it'll be well worth it, as Nitnendo said the key is whether it lifts sales long term, not whether there is a one week jump and then decline
