Forums - Sales - Will Motion Plus outsell entire "installed bases"?

I'm pretty sure if there was a decline, it was because of the summer market.

But looking at ebay, people are still paying retail price and more, sometimes 300$ (also plus shipping) for a wii. It's possible supply constraint still exists.

I for one will only be picking up one M+.

I also don't think they keep supply low to generate buzz, but rather Nintendo tends to under supply in order to maximize profits, with the added benefit of generating buzz.

I think there is a decent chance it will overtake the Wii's userbase. It is inevitable that there will be a new Wiimote with this built in, which will sell with every console, and M+ will become standard, and as there will be far more Wiimotes than Wiis, I see it as inevitable that there will be more M+s than Wiis, in the same way that I think there are more DualShock 3s (released after launch) than PS3s

Yes

Umm... no. But it'll definitely be quite a big hit. Tiger Woods and Grand Slam are already starting off pretty well and Wii Sports Resort will be the icing on the cake. Then Red Steel 2 will keep it going among others. Definitely going to be quite a good addition to the Wii peripheral line.

Yes. If the balance board, which is more expensive and harder to find in stores can outsell the PS3, I have little doubt that WM+ can do the same, being bundled with more games, in particular WSR.

I still can't believe Wii Fit will outsell the PS3. Why aren't devs making games for that?

Look at EA Sports Active - 1 million in 6 weeks.

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

WM+ is a peripheral, one that is likely to be bundled with many games that require it at first. The number that it will sell would not be comparable to the install base as PS3 because of this nature. Of course it will outsell the PS3, even if half the wiis had one it would do it, but everyone is going to get one so I say at least double during the lifetime, if not 4x.

That said I think making a comparison of DS3 attach ratio (percentile) to PS3 install base, compared to WM+ attach ratio to wii install base would be a good comparison.

It depends on the quality of the games bundled with WM+

Yup, it's insane. In just a little over a year, 2/5 Wii owners have a balance board, and the BB has been heavily supply constrained (I had to buy mine on eBay). I don't think any peripheral has come close to that kind of install base. And once WF+ comes out, I expect the attach rate to go even higher, 50%+ isn't out of the question. Insane.

My guess as to why there aren't many games for it yet, is because it takes some time to make games, and the BB has only been out about a year, and NO ONE expected it to sell to almost half of Wii owners.

Right now, I only really have Shaun White for my BB. It rocks, and really shows the possibilities the BB can do for games.

Yes. Wii Motion Plus will sell almost as much as a Nunchuck.

The Vitality Sensor might outsell the PS3 and I don't even know what it is.
