So what you're saying is that this whole thing is one huge example of goal-post moving. I get it.
Note: not calling the OP out, that's just shooting the messenger, it's more frustration over IGN for perpetrating this crap. I hate Hilary Goldstein, i really do.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Again, you read incorrectly.
1. I stated that the Wii has RPG's, but they are barely supported by the hardcore and they have no popularity behind them. They don't push consoles.
2. I stated that Dragon Quest may be on the Wii, but was only ever popular on the PS2. If the devs want to make money, they would exclusively put the franchise on the DS, where the hardcore RPG fans will support it. It isn't a draw on the Wii. It's sales are showing, that it is a little too hardcore for the Wii.
3. This is restricted to consoles, because like IGN, the major RPG wars have been fought between the likes of Nintendo and Sony. Sony knocked Nintendo out of the war and went without major competition from the original Xbox in its first year. The 360 is the only console giving Sony a run for its money this gen in the RPG department. Microsoft scouted genres well this time around.
4. There is nothing to fear about PC for consoles. Sony and Microsoft both are both awaiting MMORPG's to be major additions on both systems. PC's are not consoles, thats why they don't count for anything.

You're taking your trolling a bit too far S.T.A.G.E., because for you to say that Dragon Quest isn't a priority is just ridiculous. Just admit that it's not "priority" only because it's not on *your* radar due to it not coming to an HD system. And lmao at your Pokemon comments. You should've looked at the sales of Pokemon Diamond/Pearl and Pokemon Platinum before spewing such foolishness. Pokemon and Dragon Quest aren't going to stop selling just because you want them too. |
Trolling? I never said Dragon Quest wasn't a Priroty. I said Dragon Quests height of popularity ended on the PS2. The DS is the only Nintendo vessel, which can carry Dragon Quest, besides the PS3 after FFXIII releases to pave the way for JRPG sales.
Personally, I could care less about Dragon Quest, but I understand its significance, which is why I never ruled it out on every system. I only ruled it out on the Wii. I was talking about how good Pokemons sales were on the DS and the GB & GBA, so don't think I ruled that out either. Read my responses (most of them at least on this topic) before you respond.
I concluded that the hardcore respond to games on certain systems, depending on where the companies are focusing on or by consumer expectations. The hardcore split up this gen after the PS2 era, which is why the sales aren't as strong in unison as they used to be. Also because a lot of gamers still haven't chosen a next gen system yet.

Since when did I ever say I disliked the Wii? I love the Wii's concept and I am extremely happy that Nintendo's winning this gen. Nintendo isn't dishing out enough games that appeal to me. When I buy my mother the Wii, I'll play some games for myself, but there will not be too many for sure. Did I think to myself "WOW! I love Microsoft and Sony when I bought my systems?" Nope. I didn't. I only thought, which console focuses on me. This is why I am thinking about where the Wii focuses. If you think Sony has horrible advertisements for their first party, take a look at Nintendos advertisements for their RPG's. The DS stole the Wii's thunder for RPG's at E3 (....again). It is just completely sad to watch how low on the bar Nintendo has been, compared to when I was young and Nintendo being the one with all of the RPG's on the main console. I feel that Nintendos "hardcore friendly system" is the DS. Is there anything wrong with feeling that way? I hate having to explain myself, when I am constantly being misread. Do you understand me now?

They are talking about this gen! This gen! What is wrong with you people!?
| Soriku said: DQ has only been popular on PS2? The hell are you smoking? You should go take a look at VGC's data for previous DQ sales. Really! Also, how many times do we have to repeat ToS: DotNW beat ToV in sales, and that DQS is only just behind LO in sales (but is the #1 selling console RPG in Japan this gen.) Hardcore don't support Wii RPGs my ass. Niche titles on Wii will sell much better once MH3, Tales of Graces, Samurai Warriors 3, FFCC: TCB come out. And the eventual DQ X (plus I can see DQ remakes on Wii before DQ X, like DS got DQ remakes. Maybe a DQ VII remake.) Stop being delusional. But wait, this is the Internet where pure logic is really illogical! High five! |
That is merely logic. People are not moved by logic.
360 is the king of the rpg genre by a good margain, who knows what the future holds though.
