Either way if 15 somehow makes it out for the PS3 and 360 i'd almost put money that 13 outsells it.

Shame we can't get accurate PSN data would be interesting to see how it charts legs wise sv your usual FF games and FF re-rereleases.

If I had to guess i'd think Digitial Distirbution would help legs since you can always find a copy of the game.  Rather then having to go on Ebay or scour gamestops.

I know what you mean, and I know you probably know this, but there is a bandwith fee. So while it, in fact, does cost over 10 cents, they still made a humungous profit.

Remember, this is only American numbers. America is the PS3's weakest area in terms of market share, so smaller numbers are to be expected. Also, when you consider the amount of those that don't have internet access, and also those that already own one or several copies of the game, the number all of a sudden doesn't look that small. And it's only in two weeks time, mind you.

It generated over $1mil in two weeks. That's not too shabby.

Wonder how big the PS1 game is... what with their download "tax".  And i'm sure Sony takes a cut of it anyway.

Yeah, that's what i meant by the second sentence.

I mean.  For comparison Final Fantasy 3 on the DS sold over 180,000 first week.

And that was the bad FF3.

FF7 was download only, plus this is only NA sales. FF3 did 120k opening week in NA. On a larger userbase (it does matter, to a certain extent), and download only. And FF3 was technically a remake, wasn't it?

I'm curious to see how well this can actually sell. I teach piano in a really affluent area of NY state, and a lot of my younger students (10-14) who own PS3s have absolutely no interest in this game. They also have almost no interest in Final Fantasy as a series.  Think about it: only one Final Fantasy has hit in their game-playing lifetimes, and it was for a system which was already getting replaced at the time by a new generation. Weird to think about, but everyone seems to be way more into Kingdom Hearts.


I do think 100,000 is pretty huge for a few weeks, though. Downloads tend to have strong legs, and not huge first week releases.

Kingdom Hearts is far more popular in America than Final Fantasy.
