1) I thought InFamous only did 185k its first week?
2) CoD4 beat Halo 3 for a while, too... if you count both consoles.
3) Neither one of these are worth bragging about.

I bought InFamous the day it came out. I stopped playing it a few days later. I heard it was slightly better than Prototype, and thus haven't bothered to buy Protoype.

They're both like bad/generic Spider-Man/Hulk games with an embarassing number of glitches and flaws for such a done-to-death genre as the sandbox superhero one.

Both games sold well, and better than I expected. Im glad for it.

Where are the games in your gaming collection? You're so busy talking about this game sucked that game sucked. So what are the games that you would stand by? It's so easy to sit back and be critical of everything.



Well American sales was the reason why it outsold it. I think they both have sold well and good for us ps3 owners we can play both :)



 

I'd think that the extra userbase in the US helped a bit. Most recent release seem to have a 3:2 ratio of sale for the 360vsPS3.... Also the PS3 userbase could be split with 2 choices, not everyone is getting both Prototype and Infamous. If one of them hadn't come out, I think the sale figure would have jumped a bit for the other.

Still I think both sold pretty well.

I dunno. It's about what i've predicted.

Me i've got a friend who's got both... beaten Infamous... and told me of the two to get Prototype. So I will... if i can get over paying 60 dollars for a game when i'm activily trying to save money.

He even brought it over so i could play it.  Lots of fun.  Some of the stuff surprised me.  Like i dropped off a building, landed on a guys head... and his head exploded.

The mandatory tank missions seem like a real pain though.

I think that one game really has nothing to do with the other. Obviously a bit of Prototype's potential PS3 sales got swallowed by releasing a week later than Infamous. However, the 360 version should sell more than Infamous because it's marketed to a US/EU audience and there are simply more 360's.

Regarding Infamous' sales on it's own merits though, I think it just stems from Sony's inability to find games to publish that really entice a larger portion of the userbase. Everything seems to do relatively well, and are decently successful, but they can't seem to reach beyond the 2-3 million mark for the most advertised, critically loved titles. The only two titles to pull in some really impressive sales are Motorstorm and Resistance, both of which are thought of more as flukes because of a lack of titles at the time to purchase, since both of their sequels bombed spectacularly in comparison. Sony just doesn't seem to be able to find a title or two (outside of GT of course) that captures a larger portion of the userbase, instead of that smaller segment of around 2 million that loves buying Sony published titles.

prototype did ok being a multiplatform game and after beating infamous. prototype will have alot to live up to when i start playing it.
