maybe activision should stop making any game that isnt' guitar hero and call of duty since they obviously fail on both the ps3 and 360.

You may be missing the point.  He didn't just mention that the PS3 user base was not expanding as quickly as it should, he also mentioned the 1/2 billion dollars that Sony has soaked up in royalties and other payments from Activision.  If Sony was to charge that much for IP, etc, then they better show them the money when it comes to game sales.

Well he's wrong, Sony can afford a price cut without going bankrupt. However they'll get a bit closer, as a price cut will cost them 5-10% of their cash reserves in one year.

I prefer rock salt. If the cost of porting is more a fixed cost rather than a % of cost of development then it does make sense to not port games which will sell poorly and spend that money elsewhere. Also it gives space for other games on the PS3 to perform better, a win/win I say!

I would prefer that the money spent on porting the lousy games to the PS3 were spent on something better, like making good games

And yes, it is a win/win, and I will agree more with you for every copy of BAJA that was chosen over Motorstorm: Pacific Rift.

All in all though, why spend money on creating the bad games in the first place? Spend the money on making good games that will make nice profits on both platforms instead

Your argument falls when comparing sales to other consoles, the Activision CEO states "rate of attachment" is the problem.

Let's compare multiplatform releases for an accurate comparisson (So no CoD2, GH2, etc which all sold millions on the 360)

Total 360 Copies - 31.12 million (360 Attach Rate = 1.01), 1.30 million average sold per game
Total PS3 Copies - 12.76 (PS3 Attach Rate = 0.56), 0.53 million average sold per game

* Note - Reminder that these numbers only account for multiplatform releases to compare the PS3 to its competitor

I'm guessing your comment about PS3 software selling better was not referring to Activison games? You'll see none of these games outsold the 360 (well maybe Baja 1000 since they look tied :) )

You might wanna add the PSP and PS2 games to that since there a part of what they r threataning to shut down ;)
