Well I figured this would happen. When I first saw the specs of the PS3, I thought 256MB main memory would be a limiting factor someday even though the overhead for the OS than a typical windows OS. Sony should have ponied up to 512MB.

Funny you should say that--I read once that Microsoft was originally only going to have 256MB of RAM in the 360, but then Epic showed them what Gears could look like with 512MB and they jumped on it

Nice move by MS, even though 512MB is a unified memory approach, it still allowed for more available system memory than Sony.  Yet another misstep by Sony.  I'm starting to wonder with these limitations and missteps will Sony fulfill their "10 year" lifespan for PS3.  Don't get me wrong I like the PS3 and what it does now but it's shackled by it's smallish memory and a somewhat slow transfer of the bluray and it's GPU.  Too bad Sony couldn't wait for all the developments that's happening in the GPU market recently.

It's 75% of the image size of the 360 version and much less than that when we're counting pixels. It sounds a lot worse than it really looks, though if we're to judge the game's technical performance, we must definitely count pixels instead of size.

Because of this I have also decided to not pick up the game. Its like people already mentioned, other companies can make the games run almost identical to one another why cant they. I'll just enjoy Fight Night Round 4 a little longer is all.

This is so ridiculous...that company took a huge hit.

Really?  Explain Uncharted, MGS4, Killzone 2, GT5P, etc

You get where I'm going with this?

They're all great games.  I played all of the except for GT5P.  But sometimes I get the feeling that the levels are small because they won't fit into main memory easily or have to be streamed in from the hard drive or bluray thus you get a stutter when you progress to the next mini sublevel.  I don't know this for a fact, it could be just a limitation of the engine or design consideration.  But the levels feels compartmentalized.

It's not even HD...yet I have an HD console (both actually). Why should I bother to buy a game that can't even play at the standard for the system (not that I was going to buy it anyway). I bet the Wii version looks better....

You don't think that Twesterm had to do anything with it?? xD

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

lol, the fact that Ghostbusters on ps3 is timed exclusive in europe makes it even more funny.

The stutter you get in Killzone 2 is there because there are no loading screens.  I don't recall any stutter or loading screens at all in Uncharted.  The multiplatform games have the same level size and loading screens, some of these on the PS3 require installs but that is a limitation of the Blu-ray speed, not memory size.  As it has been pointed out numerous times, the PS3 has 512 of memory as well.  The only difference is 256 of it is extremely fast and dedicated to the GPU.  The 360 uses a unified memory approach similar to the approach used in cheaper pcs/laptops.

Thanks for the input, Jeff.

It won't ruin my enjoyment of the game anyway.
