This 100%. Also @ Kantor GT5 has been in development since 2004. 2009 all we have seen is a trailer. And if they are adding Full WRC and Nascar like actual career modes ( which to be honest if it isn't it's all pointless when we have Dirt and Nascar games ) then we may not see GT5 till 2012. 3 actual games in one would be like 3 years dev for each. Unless GT5 will be a half hearted game where WRC and Nascar are concerned and just have a few races with those tracks and cars, no career modes, no championship etc. They said at the start of the comparison, they chose GT5P and Forza2 because they are considered to be the best of the console world. I'm sure they will do F3 versus GT5. But from the words about Forza 3 after playing it at E3 ( see my sig ) I wouldn't hold my breath for GT5 beating Forza 3 from a sim perspective. |
2012? Seriously?
Yamauchi said that the game is basically ready, and can be released at any point. He just wants to put polish. Ultimately, I would guess it's Sony's decision, and they'll probably choose for it to release in 2009- especially if they are planning a price cut (30% increase...). They won't be able to find enough to do for a whole year, and releasing a GT game in Spring/Summer is a waste, so holiday 2009 is the only logical option.
SCEJ isn't one for announcing early. Demon's Souls was announced in November 2008, and released in February 2009. Particularly Polyphony Digital- I remember Yamauchi saying that he didn't like giving details too far in advance, as people had seen with GT5P.
I think the people being most annoying through this are Turn 10. I mean, it's one thing for an anonymous poster in a forum to say that Forza 3 will be better than GT5, but for an industry professional to say it...sigh. It's almost on Sony levels of PR fail

But i have a feeling that after OPM does their preview of GT5 that i'll be way more pumped for GT5...here's hoping for a release date or at least a general time frame.
